Bring to ruin those ruining the earth, but what if we change.

this has come up recently with two family members who are jws.

if they are talking about this you can bet that others are too.

they seem to be all excited that a lot of attention in the news right now is about climate change, greta, extinction rebellion etc... as you can image they are very smug saying see.

They presented an amusing article in the Awake 1971 1/8 headed "Spaceship Earth in Deep Trouble"

It talks about Genesis 6:12 and those ruining the Earth.

The article says this (after explaining how the atmosphere is becoming loaded with poisonous gases causing eye irritation and infection.

No wonder Life magazine of January 3, 1970, stated: “Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support . . . predictions” such as: “In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution,” and “increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will affect earth’s temperature, leading to mass flooding or a new ice age.”

The Life Magazine article that they quote has been noted as one of the most ridiculous predictions in modern times. The Watchtower was responsible for pointing to this false prediction and it wasn't even in the Bible. They go to any length to make JWs feel Armageddon is coming any day. Climate change is just another method they are using.

FYI, you might be wondering what was the advice given to Wordly people (since it was written in the Awake). They wisely said

Farmers and gardeners can remember that there is nothing wrong with compost or other organic fertilizers or the use of crop rotation to build up the soil. And could it be that you do not need to use your car as much as you do, or could you walk to a nearby store? Is it possible to curb water waste in your home? As housewives, can you use good old laundry soap instead of water-polluting phosphate detergents?

Obviously, this was just all talk and they didn't take any of this seriously.

it has been mentioned before but since we have been discussing environmental issues on another thread, i thought it might be timely to discuss rev 11:18 which has recently become a popular text for those christians concerned about environmental threats of pollution and climate change.

is this passage being interpreted correctly?

did the writer somehow anticipate the modern environmental situation, or did he intend something more in keeping with the bible's general concerns of morality and sin?.

Where are the funds going to come from? Warwick Expansion

so with the news that they are remodeling patterson and expanding warwick, where are the funds going to come from?.

could this be a ruse like the need for thousands of kingdom halls proclaimed a few years back only to be replaced with the we realized the halls were not at capacity and the great sell-off began?.

maybe the hope is going to be that the sheep will give give give and then all of the sudden, after prayerful consideration the gb have determined that the current resources are sufficient to create the needed media and content.. my bet is that in 10 years it will all be consolidated to warwick and walkill and patterson will be sold to who i have no idea, but they own a ton of property in upstate ny..

Its been said on here for years that they are as much a Building business. They may be selling KHs but they've put a lot into huge projects. Why not? When you have no taxes to pay on land and possibly building materials?, a lot of free labor and a discriminatory slave employer then why not.

This new, huge project, is in its early stages yet they've just been selling off an incredible amount of tools and machinery only to buy more. The wastage of JWs money is staggering.

No wonder they made the statement to trust them even if what they do is not logical from a human stand point. Yes, it's not logical and they got the other bit right. What they are doing is not human.....

It's amazing that any JW would want to support this organization, even more so, any JW parent.

It might be possible that the courts will view the JWs negatively for choosing not to join the redress scheme and making them look even worse in court cases.

I didn't know you were only 15. You shouldn't feel bullied by anyone so I think you are making a wise choice.

Someone posted that these Bibles won't be available until the end of next year. This means that those Slaves that were invited to the Meeting are even more privelaged having received a copy of this illustrated book. They'll be able to flash it around in front of the under privelaged slaves. A bit like the Kings guests being served Kobe Beef whilst the servants eat sausages.

No doubt, the Bethelite Slaves were ordered to keep silent about this as they were slaving day after producing it.

One of those photos shows images and is even headed as images. As I mentioned on another post, it is no different to having these images in their most holiest books than having pictures or carved objects displayed inside a Church. I think whoever decided to call these bible pictures 'images' is having a good laugh.

In that image that is being shown in the photo, I wonder why they have a young boy dangling a fish in front of him.

But what is interesting is the amount of cost the Watchtower is willing to go to, not to do their most important work of baptising people/recruiting them but for those that are already captive in the organization.

They've put images in their new study bible.

They used to have a go at the Catholics for having images all around their Church, they are doing no different themselves by putting it in their Bible.

I just checked on JW org under their 'JW news' and there is no mention of the annual meeting, including their 'new light', building for 1,000 JWs and their study bible. No doubt it is to make those who were invited to attend feel special. But also, it is a boost to their ego as they flash around their new bible and 'leak' information from the meeting.

It speaks volumes of what the Watchtower is.
