They are always having little niggles at each other during the AGM. This one would have topped them all. I can't wait to see whether this unnerved him but you can never tell what state of mind he his in anyway.

This is your first post here Tracy and I am wondering what your agenda is by bringing up this post about Barbara Anderson.
Barbara Anderson has worked for many years on Child Abuse and the JW organization. She is highly respected here and by many ex JWs. She has proven to be a serious problem for the organization and she has been discredited by them in the past.
You state that there is "some really good info sharing" in the link you provided which makes the claim that it is the victims who are the real hero's, whereas Barbara Anderson got something wrong. Could you please advise what this really good information is, rather than providing a link?
The link you do provide is from a poster that has only made three posts. Two of them are an attack on Steven Unthank, who was pivotal in highlighting JWs and their dealing with child abuse within Australia, well before the ARC was formed. The third post is the one you link to and is an attack on Barbara Anderson.
Whether or not the Elders in Australia were breaking the law by not obtaining a Working with Children clearence certificate is certainly up for debate but Steven Unthank was prepared to challenge this in court. Since the Australian Branch decided to comply with this law eventually then there was no further action required on his part to challenge their inactivity in this aspect. For the most part, it has become a non issue but it appears that there is someone or some people (JWs?, the Australian Bethel Branch?) who want to undermine the work of Steven Unthank and now Barbara Anderson.
I would think that both of these activists have much more important work involving JW child abuse activism than dealing with individuals who want to undermine that work. They are still both working very hard at attaining further reforms within the Watchtower. Their work has ultimately provided a better platform in which victims are better able to have their cases dealt with, either through personal support, reforms, and various other methods.
Again, could you please advise what this 'really good information' is?
Personally, I am of the opinion that this personal attack is nasty and somehow vindictive.
I haven't bothered to read the two reports written to undermine the efforts of Steven Unthank but it would come as no surprise if it did not include the very important work that he did on his submission to the Victorian Royal Commission on Child abuse and their review of the JW religion within Australia. Also, Steven Unthank provided a great deal of information here on this forum over the many years of his work in Australia (in real time) and included many documents and links to information as well as court proceedings.
this has come up recently with two family members who are jws.
if they are talking about this you can bet that others are too.
they seem to be all excited that a lot of attention in the news right now is about climate change, greta, extinction rebellion etc... as you can image they are very smug saying see.
They presented an amusing article in the Awake 1971 1/8 headed "Spaceship Earth in Deep Trouble"
It talks about Genesis 6:12 and those ruining the Earth.
The article says this (after explaining how the atmosphere is becoming loaded with poisonous gases causing eye irritation and infection.
No wonder Life magazine of January 3, 1970, stated: “Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support . . . predictions” such as: “In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution,” and “increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will affect earth’s temperature, leading to mass flooding or a new ice age.”
The Life Magazine article that they quote has been noted as one of the most ridiculous predictions in modern times. The Watchtower was responsible for pointing to this false prediction and it wasn't even in the Bible. They go to any length to make JWs feel Armageddon is coming any day. Climate change is just another method they are using.
FYI, you might be wondering what was the advice given to Wordly people (since it was written in the Awake). They wisely said
Farmers and gardeners can remember that there is nothing wrong with compost or other organic fertilizers or the use of crop rotation to build up the soil. And could it be that you do not need to use your car as much as you do, or could you walk to a nearby store? Is it possible to curb water waste in your home? As housewives, can you use good old laundry soap instead of water-polluting phosphate detergents?

is this passage being interpreted correctly?
did the writer somehow anticipate the modern environmental situation, or did he intend something more in keeping with the bible's general concerns of morality and sin?.

could this be a ruse like the need for thousands of kingdom halls proclaimed a few years back only to be replaced with the we realized the halls were not at capacity and the great sell-off began?.
maybe the hope is going to be that the sheep will give give give and then all of the sudden, after prayerful consideration the gb have determined that the current resources are sufficient to create the needed media and content.. my bet is that in 10 years it will all be consolidated to warwick and walkill and patterson will be sold to who i have no idea, but they own a ton of property in upstate ny..

Its been said on here for years that they are as much a Building business. They may be selling KHs but they've put a lot into huge projects. Why not? When you have no taxes to pay on land and possibly building materials?, a lot of free labor and a discriminatory slave employer then why not.
This new, huge project, is in its early stages yet they've just been selling off an incredible amount of tools and machinery only to buy more. The wastage of JWs money is staggering.
No wonder they made the statement to trust them even if what they do is not logical from a human stand point. Yes, it's not logical and they got the other bit right. What they are doing is not human.....

It's amazing that any JW would want to support this organization, even more so, any JW parent.
It might be possible that the courts will view the JWs negatively for choosing not to join the redress scheme and making them look even worse in court cases.
is it true that in 1975 the watchtower falsely predicted the end of the world and a great number of the membership quit and just a few years later they turned disassociation into disfellowshipping?
