Simon - You know things take a pause over the xmas break, right?
Don't be so impatient, give people a chance.
That is true but surely she took that into account before she made her statement?
i have known all of them over the last 15 years, talked at length with them, and knew what their wishes were, the copyright holder and spouse spent even more time with them socially and helping them set up their arrangements for when ray and cynthia passed.
i don't believe that anyone else on this board or others was a confidant.
there is no need to prove it to anyone but the copyright office which is satisfied with this.

Sorry, I should have explained myself a little better when I said 'readily available'. It is currently too expensive for a lot of people and for various reasons there are many that would not want payments showing up on their banking records. There are some that just don't want to pay for what could be seen as 'apostate' material.
I agree with everything you wrote in your last post Cappytan.
I now understand more about why Cedars did what he did (and what drove him to it) and putting aside my personal opinion on the matter, I think it is absolutely commendable that he has tried to rectify things as much as he can. We all step out of line at times but it says a lot about a person when they try to fix their errors and indiscretions.
It's disappointing that things like this happen but when things are brought to a head, it often results in a clearer picture for the future. It is likely we will get to know where the copyright holder really stands on the matter, one way or the other.
The copyright holder has the legal right to manage this any way they want but that doesn't mean we have to like it.
I am wondering if it is possible to email a file equivalent to the size of Crisis of Conscience to another person with just the one attachment?

It's very disappointing that this book is still not readily available by legal means. It seems that there has been more of an effort put into stopping people having access to this book.
The Watchtower must be delighted.
The current situation is now worse than ever.
i am going to engage on a trip to the past and share with you some of the matters that marked the beginning of the jws persecution in cuba.
you will be surprised that the pattern that was followed is very similar to what happened in other dictatorial countries.. in the cuban case, i am going to surprise you and tell you that like what happened with hitler; the wt was partially responsible for their clash and confrontation with the cuban government.
during the early 60s the revolution was fighting for survival and they were willing and ready to demolish any perceived enemy to their cause.. a prime example was their war against the catholic church that was the most influential religious entity in the country; it took the supreme leader only a few public discourses to send the vast majority of clergy packing and back to their country, in this case spain.. the jehovah’s witnesses were an insignificant minority but they over estimated their importance and displayed a belligerent attitude, it was known that this was a us based religion and an easy target to connect them with the cia.
at the risk of revealing how i waste my time on youtube, is that a brother praying after about 45 seconds into this video?
what on earth is he doing?
http://youtu.be/8xeh863xzmg.
It is strange as to why they would give a prayer, especially for a stranger (or should I say neighbour?). It was funny how he mumbled something like 'may she see the truth of the matter'.
If it was me I would have asked the guy if he wanted to report it to the police and if I had a phone on me I would have tried to get a photo of the lady.
I wonder if these JWs were out in service (on a coffee break)? It was funny to see a marked change in personality, particularly from Elders when they were doing field service. It was like they were now on duty and there one focus was God during this time.

Towards the end the pranksters show themselves telling some of the groups of people it was just a prank. Usually when these sorts of 'candid camera' pranks are done for television they will get the permission from those on the film allowing them to air it.
The JWs would not have known at the stage of giving a prayer.

It's possible that the JWs did know it was a hoax given that the pranksters told other's that it was after the fact.
The owners might be prepared to do another video centred on the praying and their reactions afterwards.
this is the way crisis of conscience should have been written.
finally, a book written on the watchtower society by someone who actually knows how to write!
after reading the subheading, “the psychology of jehovah’s witnesses,” (pages 160–182), i have abandoned the belief that we have an “unconscious,” and will never again consult any psychologist, psychiatrist, or counselor.

I was going to ask Johnny Depp for a short extract from the book but I found this short review on another book by the same author (Gabriel Ibarra). The following post was written by Johnny Depp.

Hey, Do you guys think John Densmore (drummer of The Doors) will ever apologize to Gabriel H Ibarra for getting him fired?
According to Gabriel H Ibarra, in Jehovah’s Witnesses, What Lies Behind The Truth (pages 79-81), John Densmore falsely accused Gabriel of eating too many oranges, so that the contractor, Larry Babbitt, fired Gabriel for eating too many oranges.
What do you guys think? Should John Densmore apologize to Gabriel? Perhaps, compensate him?
Johnny says he's a friend of the author and would like people to help him out by buying his book. It's on Lulu, costing over $70.
What I'd really like to know - Is the author eating too many oranges and if so, has he thought of replacing them with orange juice?

Blondie makes a great comment that there are other good books around and Sparrowdown suggests we should make a list of those books..
Personally I don't know of any books that are better than Coc but I haven't read any others either. We all have reasons why Coc was important to us, however we shouldn't have to rely on one book . It is also a book that is getting old, there is now a whole generation of younger ones and we also agree that this religion is evolving into something different.
We have a pretty good idea of copyright laws and how far we can go in quoting other people'sworks, including the Wtbts'.
Instead of worrying about the availability of Coc how about we do something really proactive? We could write a book as a collective effort.
We could begin it on here, using the likes and dislikes to gauge direction and working on it Chapter by Chapter. We can include topics that Ray didn't want to discuss, like the handling of child abuse. That is, of course, with Simon's pemission.
It would take some time but we have an abundance of resources including JW Facts, Wickepedia, Coc and this forum. There are enough people who are very conscious on ensuring we stick to facts and who understand the JW mentality. There will be no reason to sensationalise matters, especially if we were to establish what our focus should be. As a collective effort it would be much more easier to avoid being over emotive which was something Ray was able to achieve on his own.
