If you become a pioneer you get to go to pioneer school, you may even get to go to Gillead or couples training. Yet if they were sincere, the information provided at these schools would be available to every JW, it's not like they didn't have the capabilities to put it in print.

It was never, ever, a warning work, was it?
by jambon1 inmost witnesses i knew were exteeemly reluctant to go out in the ministry.
but when they did, they were simply scraping by, eager to avoid conflict and just do their hour or so speaking to lonely old ladies or widowed old men.
placing magazines in a car group, doing route calls, plodding along in the utter boredom of their responsibility to get some time on a report by the last day of the month.. this was never a warning work.

Where Can One Get Answers To Questions From JWs?
by Cold Steel inthere's also a fellow who calls himself the "watchman," but he seems as critical as many of the so-called "apostates.
" is there a place where one can ask questions from knowledgeable believers or "a" believer?
i really don't want to take the bible lessons.

Cold Steel - I really don't want to take the Bible Lessons. I'm just interested in an occasional answer to a question by someone who knows what they're talking about and can add some discussion.
You can call your local Kingdom Hall and ask for a knowledgeable person to visit, be upfront and tell them what you are looking for. They might be prepared to visit once or twice, it depends how you handle it. You can tell them that you don't want to study their publications, you're just interested in researching straight from the bible.
You could also write to Bethel with your questions, they will likely pass on your queries to the local congregation for them to deal with. -

Your feelings for the former travelling overseers
by Hecce induring our wt life we met a good number of friends involved in the circuit and district work.
i am sure that we share the same experience and that we remember fondly some that we caring, loving and generally interested in the brothers.
at the same time we might remember others that were arrogant, selfish, abusive and oppressive.

When I as about 17 the CO partnered up with me in the field service for the first time. It lasted for about 15 minutes and he was asking what plans I had for the future, naturally he encouraged me to go pioneering. I was not impressed for two reasons.
The first being that he bothered to talk to me, not out of personal interest but to push the orgs. agenda. Secondly, it was depressing. I had been given no encouragement or direction from my father to do anything constructive with my future by way of education or employment, so when the CO was discussing it with me I felt trapped. I can understand the frustration of young ones.

Just a little bit depressed .... so I went for a walk - a walk into the beginning of my JW life
by fulltimestudent ini seldom feel depressed, but i did yesterday.
possibly, its because i'm likely going to graduate next year and i feel somewhat lost.
the goal i've had for the last 8 years to improve my understanding of the china-asia nexus, will have been accomplished.

Some of the Australian Bro. were making a good living off the Watchtower until Knife came and put a stop to it. It sounds like they became quite inventive in money earning activities, including the advertising you mentioned.

Disassociation revealed what type of man my father really is.
by Paul Mooney ini began my exit from the jehovah’s witness organization about 5 years.
i was a 4th generation born-in, with all the baggage that comes with having the “spiritual heritage” attached to the group.
i was an elder/bethelite/pioneer/whatever other useless privilege there was, i had no family or friends outside of the organization… my entire life was that org.

by Chook ini'm at home and hear knock on door , i sneak and look i see two men and recognise one voice and go back into lonunge and ask wife ( who is inactive believer) does she want to speak to elders ,she says no ,then literally 3 minutes has pasted another knock the 3 minutes seemed like an eternity.
so brave heart me think fuck it i'll answer ,i invite them in for coffee, i recognise one older man he is a unique elder who i genuinely was fond of when i was in his name is andrew ,the other guy i didn't recognise we will call harry ( not real name australia doesn't have that many cos with his same name).
so i think to myself i will tread lightly and not cause to much of a fuss for the wife's sake, but my personality is very the opposite of treading lightly ,as you read my threads you will realise i'm not timid.

You recalled so much information for an impromptu meeting. They may wonder what else you would bring up if you had been given advance notice of a meeting.

After you telling them all that, I guess they don't expect you to return. Don't be surprised that when they next come calling, they invite you to a JC.

I don't think I will be able to escape the JWs ...
by nevaagain ini know i will get a lot of backslash on this forum for saying this, but as it looks like, i won't ever be able to escape the jws.
i have been a born in, third generation jw and awoken in one way or another (i joined this forum 15 years ago) for a very long time.
but i have adapted to the jw lifestyle to a point where it does not bother me anymore.

Don't expect a happy marriage to a JW when she works out what you've been up to.

Anybody else having trouble walking away?
by JW-Matrix inok...so i'm a 19 year old fifth generation jw.
mentality, i've been out of the "truth" since i was 16(woke up after i was baptized ironically), but on the outside i'm a model jw.
my parents are really devoted, my grandparents are super devoted, and so are my ants and uncles.

JW Matrix, I bet you have some very interesting stories, there wouldn't be that many fifth generation JWs around. Sounds like you are expected to be a creature of habit without any thoughts of your own. Just think, your family line has been through dozens of doctrinal and procedural changes.
Are you an only child because you talk about being expected to be an example to your cousin's. I must admit, I've never heard of that one being used on a JW to guilt them.
You'll actually be setting a good example by breaking this chain of blind obedience to men.
