Marking as well.
I'm happy for you, butterfly! It feels so good to help someone else get mentally free of this, especially if it's a relative!
(this is a letter i wrote to my cousin after she left from visiting me after 3 years!!
she flew 5 hours to see me last weekend!!).
hi ****!i'm so happy you came to ***** and visited me!!

the first summer a$$embly finishes this weekend.. tell tell!.
who are the toes.
the verrucas and fungus?.
I am so disappointed. I was looking forward to this new lite being torn to shreds. Piranhas!
Is this what they're shooting for? I mean, seriously... what's the thinking behind this?
They're either dumber than previously thought or they had something cooked up and then pulled it at the last minute. If the second, would love to know what and why.
recently, i have heard several comments during the watchtower study regarding how today's ultra-violent entertainment might actually be "training and preparing people to butcher their own families when the great tribulation hits.
" this rather dystopian thought was also alluded to in several convention talks within the past year or so.. how do you feel about this?
while there is no doubt that explicitly violent media is abundantly available in this day and age, do you feel that this is a plausible conclusion to draw?
I totally forgot about the orgies! Roman baths! Children passed around for adult pleasure. *sigh* Those where the good old days. What is this world coming to?
/sarcasm (Cause sometimes it's hard to tell.)
yes, the dates are correct, proofs are correct and judgment day came on may 21- but it was an invisible spiritual judgment- the end of the world is still coming on oct 21. harold egbert camping has just explained the truth to the world 5 minutes ago..
My mother a JW has explained that the bibe warn's us of the sign's to watch out for and they sure have happened/happening - find this pretty scary myself!!!
The signs in Matthew 24? Those have always happened and will continue to happen. Sometimes it seems like things are getting worse because we instantly hear about everything now due to technology like satellites, cell phones, and the internet. Maybe check the statistics to see if things really are worse and that will calm your fears. JWs have selective sight and memory about these things and a generally distorted view of the world. Personally, I think if any time could be thought of as the Biblical last days it would have been the Dark Ages.
Here's something a Presbyterian pastor wrote that links William Miller, CT Russell, and Camping. I might have got it from this board too, can't remember. But thanks if that was you! I'm passing around on fb and reddit anything that links the JWs with Camping. Spread the embarassment!

Family Radio may not be the Watchtower Tract and Bible Society, but it is built on the same wrong-headed interpretations of Scripture, the same date-setting, the same recalculations, the same accusations of complete apostasy, and the same claim to be the last true channel of God's Word. Despite the differences, both are heresy - - the tearing apart of Christ's church.
Edited: Maybe we should all do this guy a favor and send him the old literature. You know, so he doesn't make the same mistakes.
i briefly touched on the drama in another post, but i felt i needed to share in greater detail this latest masterpiece.. .
this was the drama on sunday.
the story alternates between the story of joseph, son of jacob, and a witness kid (forgot his name;billy?
LOL @ having a kid use "politician" as an insult. They really are in their own little world.

What ultra-violent entertainment? I haven't been to a hanging or stoning in ages. I miss watching lions tear Christians to shreds and getting blood splattered on me. Christian blood is really hard to come by these days, too. I get funny looks at the blood mobile when I ask their prices.
...i was told but they usually were as i look back.. as a lad i'd sit and look to see who the lights would fall on.
i'd get an almond and see how long i could suck it before i chewed at it.
i'd imagine playing rock'n'roll on the congregation's piano.. how did you get through the meetings when you were bored?.
or even wondering what it would be like to swing by a trapeze from the stadium ceiling.
I also did this during conventions. I would imagine myself up there in the catwalks finding a path without falling to my death. Or I'd scope out the spotlights and figure out where they'd be shining if they were on. Watched people exit the auditorium and timed how long it took them to get back. Also did the marking off for every mention of Jehovah, Jesus, anointed, other sheep, paradise, etc. Looked up dirty words in the Bible index. Read whatever magazines I had with me. When I was younger, my hands were dinosaurs and my lap and chair a landscape since I really loved the Land Before Time movie.
On the upside, we've all probably got a much longer attention span than other people who never experienced this.
i dont know how many times i have thought i had purged my life.
of all the wts litter-ature, only to find that crap still taking up room.
in storage... .
Vote for best post title!
When I moved/got kicked out, I took only my NWT with me which I threw in the garbage April last year. I wish I had thought to take my pioneer school book with me (what's that called again?). I think it'd be fascinating to see what my mindset was back then, all the little notes in the margins.
hey everybody, i'm in the middle of an ongoing debate w/some jws and they are asserting that everyone knows what they're getting into when they are studying and getting baptized and that nobody forces anyone to become a jw and that you can leave anytime you want.
ok, we know that's not true.
how would you counter that argument?
I have learned more about JW's and their beliefs and history in the two years looking at this site than in the 60+ years as a JW before.
For what it's worth I have also learned more about the Bible here than in all those years attending KH.
Me too! Amazing, ain't it? The best educated people on earth, my ass!

What I wasn't told:
Baptismal vows- never saw them beforehand, didn't even see them until visiting this site.
Jesus is not mediator for the great crowd, only the 144k
What Russell really taught about 1914 and where he got that date from
What they were teaching when they were selected as f&ds in 1919
I think the above should be required to study before baptism.
Mistranslations in the NWT
The full list of disfellowshipping offenses
That elders will not be removed if they confess to a sin they committed two to three years before their appointment, while a rank and file would probably be df'd for not confessing sooner
That at some point in the future, after baptism, I would rather die at Armageddon than spend another day at a meeting or in service or under their rule. Okay, can't use that one!
