Cancer Vaccine Developed -- And Ignored
by glenster inthe food and drug administration has just approved a. vaccine that helps protect against anal cancer in men.
and women by targeting the human papillomavirus (hpv).. about 90 percent of anal cancers are believed to be.
caused by hpv, and the vaccination also helps prevent.

Compare the cost of a vaccine like Gardasil to the cost of treating cancer; chemo, drugs to alleviate the side effects of cancer, etc. Which costs more?
My fiance's dad underwent chemo and radiation last year for throat cancer (no, he doesn't have HPV). Even after his employer's insurance coverage, he paid about 4k out of pocket. Treatment was about 5 months, it wasn't a large tumor about the size of a marble. I know that's different than cervical cancer, that can be treated before it becomes cancer. But if it's not caught early, and you have to go through that kind of treatment, it gets expensive. A big chunk of that will go to the hospital and doctor you use, but you also be paying for drugs during that treatment. And I bet you'll pay more for those than the vaccine costs.

Not health insurance companies, drug companies.
Are parents now doing a similar thing by ignoring this important development?
Y'all remember when this vaccine first came out and they were recommending all middle school girls get it, before they become sexually active? Parents were opposed because it would encourage them to have sex. HPV is the most common sti, condoms don't protect you from HPV, and most people that have it don't even know it because there are no outward signs. My daughter will get the vaccine when she's old enough.

I have no way of verifying the source, but also no reason to doubt it.
THIS GIVES US SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT WHEN WE'RE IN THE MINISTRY.
Not-at-homes
......a comment made at morning worship with the Bethel family by Brother Steven Lett of the Governing Body, regarding our work of preaching and bearing witness to others.
Food for thought when we feel we are not accomplishing much in the field.
He made the point that we should not be discouraged by not-at-homes or those who
are not interested in our message. He mentioned that even if 80% of our visits were not-at-homes, and 20% were not interested, we still have many reasons to be joyful.
Primarily, it is because we are pleasing Jehovah. Also, we are fulfilling our responsibility to bear witness to others, thereby proving that Satan the Devil is a liar.
Additionally, we are helping the angels determine the condition of people's hearts. He then gave this example of a typical day in field service.
At the first door we go to, after we knock, a woman peeks through the window, sees us, but doesn't answer the door. We mark it as a not at home, but the angels mark it as something else. They can see the condition of the woman's heart.
At the second door we knock at, no one is home since the husband and wife are both at work; but we leave a tract. That night when the couple gets home and sees the tract, a conversation begins. Those Witnesses were by our house today. They sure are persistent!
The angels are watching and make note of it. At the third door we knock at, no one answers. This is because the woman at the first house called her friend at the third house and warned her that we were coming. She says: "Boy, those Witnesses sure are persistent. They just don't give up." We mark it as a not at home, but the angels mark it as something else.
We knock at the fourth house and no one is home. However, a lady across the street sees us. The Witnesses had knocked at her door last week, but she didn't listen. She says to herself, "Those Witnesses sure are persistent, but very well dressed. Even their children are well behaved. Maybe I should listen to them the next time they knock at my door." Again, the angels make note of it.
We knock at the fifth house, and again, no one is home but a garbage truck passes by. The driver tells his co-worker, "There go those Witnesses again." The co-worker asks, "Aren't they the ones who don't accept blood
transfusions?"
"Yes", the driver replies but look at how well dressed and well behaved their children are. I wish my children were the same? The angels make a note of this.
So at just these five houses, there may have been five not-at-homes marked down, but look how many conditions and reactions of the heart the angels were able to observe. Now, imagine how many of these same scenarios they observe being played out around the world each and every day. How important it is that we be in the ministry to help our angelic brothers to see behind the response we receive at the doors.
So may we never become discouraged if no one is home, because we are assisting the angels in seeing the people's heart condition. We are also pleasing Jehovah and proving Satan a liar.

Sent via BlackBerry from T-MobileWhich begs the questinon of why anyone needs to go door-to-door at all, since the angels could take care of it. Argh!
More torture:
I would like 2 know if nite clubs or clubs pops whatever are bad even if their located in a hotel and if u dont get drunk?? thanks
Is it a free will choice?
Personal conscience issue. :)
Oh ok tnx!
Question: When I was studying I was told that dinosaurs were not real; but this sister just said that she believes that they did exist. How would I go about researching this topic?
Did u check the watcher library cd? And type in dinosaurs. Do u have that cd?
I went to watchtower.org and typed in dinosaur and alien and nothing came up. Well all the scriptures about alien residents pulled up, but no articles on aliens ... I even typed in UFO ... Nada.
Do you have the creation book?
It's interesting connecting one another through this channel. However, we need 2 beware of d voice of strangers. It's vital we rememba that d best & reliable source of advice from Jehovah is d BIBLE and The faithful Slave Publications.
Yeah, we should repost this every 3 days or a week, for them to remind again and again, because Satan is using every devices right now! inserting some words that can affect our emotion or our conscience etc. Just watch for unknown people here who's trying to pretend like a brother or a sister and you should be aware of what they are saying.
Are you sure directly contacting Him by Name in his Son's name isn't the best source?
we must call him in His name but we send it in His operator Jesus Christ :)
By their fruits you'll recognize those men. Those who are not part of us lack some theocratic terms and as such when they speak you can discern that it is a voice of stranger. All of us need to "Beware of the trap of the bird catcher.
I shouldn't be surprised anymore, but I still am. These people seriously cannot think for themselves! I'm just starting to. But, gawd! It's so frustrating to see and think of my two brothers still in. I'm so worried for them.

A Big Thanks to John Williams at Bethel
by mentallyfree31 inabout five years ago, john williams came to philadelphia, ms as a visiting bethel speaker for our special assembly day.
i was well acquainted with him, as he had been to my kh before as a special weekend speaker, and also to a neighboring congregation.
in his afernoon talk, he goes off about social network websites and he made this statement: "brothers, make no mistake about it, myspace is no place for christians".

I remember a talk that said the same about the LOTR movies, from the same brother that was reading his favorite parts of the book to us in service months before. Yep, same thought. "This is complete bs!"

Pope Benedict Blames Society Not The Church For Child Sex Scandal
by Yizuman init is a modern-era phenomenon to shirk responsibility for ones actions that at one time was the domain of criminals and spoiled little children.
in the past, the clergy preached that unless one accepted responsibility for their actions and repented, they were still sinning.
so, in keeping with the tendency of todays mindset of deflecting blame, the pope stated that the churchs child sex-abuse scandal was a product of secular society where child abuse is commonplace.. pope benedict made his pronouncement at his traditional year-end address to cardinals and bishops of the vatican, and said that the exposure of abuse in 2010 had reached an unimaginable dimension forcing the church to accept the humiliation as a call for renewal.
-
DanaBug
Wow! They really don't get it. Bet the pope's words were a real comfort to victims.
Anyone seen the doc "Deliver Us from Evil"? Heartbreaking. The main thing I noticed is the priests, bishops, etc will never understand how evil this is. To them it's just a sin, any kind of sex is a sin for a priest. It's no different to them than a priest sleeping with an adult woman.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses’ planned pullout from Brooklyn is huge news for the faithful, but it’s even bigger news for the real-estate market.
The Witnesses — known officially as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society — announced last week that the group will move forward with an $11.5-million residential and administrative headquarters in upstate Warwick, after more than 101 years in the Heights.
Richard Devine, property manager for the organization, said he doesn’t know what will happen to more than 30 first-class properties that the Witnesses own in Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO. Some properties have been on and off the market for years, but now that the sect has officially announced its eventual pull-out, real-estate brokers are chomping at the bit.
“If these properties go on the market — which will take a long time, I imagine — they’ll bring in a lot more residents who will spend in arguably some of the strongest markets in the borough,” said Chris Havens, CEO of Creative Real Estate in the Heights. “The Watchtower is liberally aloof from ordinary spending and interactions in Brooklyn — they don’t spend much money outside the organization.”
But Havens added that the Witnesses won’t start the sell-off right away because the market is bad.
“They have [a vacant lot zoned] for 1,000 units of housing right off the bridge in DUMBO, which is a big deal,” Havens said. “They’ll probably sell it at some point, but they’re smart. They’ve been watching the market literally for decades and we probably won’t see much on the market until the economy is better.”
The new center upstate, which is currently going through the land-use process, would be the culmination of a multi-year retrenchment from Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO. The first step came in 2004, when the Witnesses moved their massive printing plant upstate.
And last year, the Watchtower Society bought a 248-acre site in Ramapo that will be used for offices and some administration, Devine said.
Now, the Witnesses are planning a complex called the World Headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses that will be constructed on the 253-acre Warwick site. More than half of the 1,500-person staff is expected to move the new complex, and will live and work under the same roof.
The upstate exodus for the Witnesses — known for their Bible publishing, their door-to-door conversions and their excellent real-estate savvy — is no big surprise given the group’s explosion of property sales since 2004, including:
• 360 Furman St. — a 14-story building which sold in 2004 for $205 million and was redeveloped as the all-luxury, waterfront One Brooklyn Bridge Park.
• 67 Livingston St. — a 26-story tower which went for $18.6 million in 2006.
• 89 Hicks St. — which was sold to the Brooklyn Law School in 2006 for $14 million.
• 169 Columbia Heights — also known as the Standish Arms, this swanky 12-story building was sold for $50 million in late 2007.
• the Bossert Hotel — the crown jewel of the Witnesses’ real-estate holdings, this Montague Street tower remains on the block after a reported buyer backed away from the deal in 2008.
In addition, three properties on Columbia Heights, one on Willow Street and one on Orange Street have been on and off the market over the years, driven by the fluctuation of the housing market. Devine said that the group still plans to sell those, but doesn’t know yet what would be done with the current headquarters and nearby administrative building (both also on Columbia Heights) once the move is complete.
The new complex’s construction is still in the distant future, but one thing’s for sure — the organization is all about moving forward rather than looking back.
“As an organization, we don’t put any special importance [on our Brooklyn Heights history],” Devine said. “Sure, some feel some sentimental value, and I’ve been here for 30 years. But we’re committed to moving all our operations to one central location.”

Christmas weekend with the JWs
by wifeofjw ini have been married 10 years and i have been with my family and the non-jw in laws for christmas.
this year the hubby asked me to go to a resort with a bunch of jws over the christmas week.
maybe it was not the best idea, but i love my hubby and thought once might not be too bad.
-
DanaBug
We did that once but we were all in. We spent Christmas vacay with some JW friends at a cabin in VA and then went to Cleveland. And....we exchanged presents! No tree but we did have eggnog and ice cream with Bailey's, lol! You might be surprised. Yknot's right, just treat them like their normal. Even though saying that assumes they're not, lol! But in my experience, being out of town and away from prying eyes makes a JW more relaxed and normal than they usually are.

Are Faith and Reason Compatible? Jan Awake
by DanaBug inhere's some quotes from that article:.
the bible says, for example, that if your worship is to be acceptable to god, it must be a sacred service with your power of reason.
in other words, you must worship god in a way that is worthy of thinking beings.
