Even right now, with science, a woman can give birth and still be a virgin.
I shudder to think of it (and so would the virgin).
i can't remember the last time i was asked that question because it has been many years.
nor do i remember my response to the questioner but it no doubt contributed to not being asked the question since.
are you in the truth?

BTW I'm sure Nick thinks we have wandered from the truth of his original post.
Amen, V. I am not looking to debate beliefs that are important to you. My motive, I suppose, is to illustrate that if there are fundamental flaws demonstrable within what is being represented as The Truth (capitals intended) then that representation is called into question.
it seems as though at least one article in every issue of the study watchtower is devoted to reinforcing the governing body's authority.

[BTW..I just noticed that it is nine years ago to the day that I joined JWD ! Doesn't time fly? ]
All together now
Happy rebirth day to you, happy rebirth day to you, happy rebirth day dear BluesBrotherrrrrrrr, happy rebirth day to you!

The Creation story stands on its own and is important to The Truth because The Truth falls apart without it. I am, of course, speaking within the context of the Watchtower representation of The Truth. I'm not so sure where the Watchtower doctrine of antidiluvian vegetarianism comes from, except that Noah had to feed the lions and tigers and bears (oh my) with something other than other animals during that yearlong bobbing about. Can anyone elucidate?

We are *still* on the same page, PSacramento (given that we are still discussing within the context of the original post)

With one exception....the One who claims to be "the Truth" being born of a virgin.
If we are "in Him" and He in us, then we are in the Truth.
If we go back to the original premise that determination of Truth demands evidence, then the claim of the virgin birth fails the test, since there is no observable parallel to be found. Acceptance of the virgin birth requires faith that it happened, much as it requires faith that Buddha was born through an openning in his mother's flank, as 350 million people on this earth accept as their version of The Truth.
But, the original question is not so wide sweeping as all that. Please see my previous post.

( How's that for controversial?)
Uhuh. It is, indeed. And I might be sitting here salivating at the opportunity to debate Christianity with you, because I know from your earlier posts you would put up a really good argument. But allow me to go back to the original purpose of this thread and ask you a couple of direct questions about what is represented within the question "Are you in the Truth?"
Do you believe as part of The Truth that animals were all vegetarian prior to the Flood of Noah? (notice, I am not asking whether or not you believe the Noah story).
Do you believe as part of The Truth that humankind did not exist prior to September 5, 4028 BCE?

I thought I might be able to depend on you, PSacramento. However, I do not in any way disagree with what you have just said. Truth is as large as the universe itself, but there are some tiny things being represented as Truth that fail the litmus test.

I confess to being rather disappointed that this thread didn't get picked up. I was looking forward to someone In The Truth debunking my logic. Perhaps my choice of Title was poor, turned people off. Ah well, next time maybe.

I frankly wonder if the Society is about to implode. This strident reinforcement of the authority of the GB by and for the GB is perhaps yet another indication, but there are others.
There exists a small, but determined, dissident group working from within to change blood doctrine (they call themselves the Associated Jehovah's Witnesses for Reform on Blood, or AJWRB) an indication that Group Think (critical to maintaining solidarity) is waning, there is anectdotal evidence that rank and file attitudes toward the once sacred blood doctrine are shifting, there's been and continues to be a pedophile scandal, there is abundant evidence that many of the Society's youth are rebelling and can't wait to get out of the house, there's a large number of apostate Jehovah's Witness internet sites hammering people with contrarian facts, figures and historical perspectives and there are YouTube videos galore debunking official Society positions and claims. There's no place to hide. The iron grip of the Governing Body and the Society they rule as I see it will loosen and it will become just another Christian sect, and then the smart ones will leave. I hope I live long enough to see it happen.
