Yes. Fortunately, dreaming is accompanied by the phenomenon of sleep paralysis, which keeps me from (for example) sticking needles in my eye before I wake up. In the dream I might be able to stick a needle in my eye without consequences, but outside of the dream (ie in the realm of reality) I would be blinded. What happens in your head, including dreams and imaginations about the infinite power of God to do anything, cannot be manifested as "real".

When God breaks his own laws
by Nickolas inif one assumes that god made the universe it follows that he made it according to a very complex set of physical laws that determine how things work.
the quest to identify and understand those physical laws is at the very forefront of science and great strides have been made over the past few centuries, in particular during the last century.
we have known for only a few centuries that the earth rotates on its axis and orbits around the sun along with a number of other planets, more recently that the solar system is located in a radial arm of a spiral galaxy swirling around some enormous black hole.

No Sex In the New System - It's Impossible
by mentallyfree31 infyi:.
if you think through the jw belief system, we would have to renounce sexual relations forever to get into the new system.
jw's believe that those coming back in a resurrection will not be married or given in marriage.

What is the distinction between dogmatism and sincere conviction ?
by caliber ini do sincerely want you opinions .
is there a difference in sharing your hope as opposed with pushing your religion ?.
is it in attempting to set some sort of standard for other peoples lives or what makes the difference in your view ?.

When sincere conviction is based on what can be neither proved or disproved it is called Faith. When one puts forward the tenets of his Faith, which by definition can be neither proved or disproved, then it is dogma. But the two things are different. Sincere conviction may be something kept completely to oneself whereas dogma must be shared.

Well, just in case, I advise you not to stick a needle in your eye to test your theory, just in case it's all fluff.

You only have to stick a needle in your eye to answer that question, Finger.

maybe he just altered their powers of perception
Perceiving what is not really there is more commonly categorised as hallucination. If God caused the Israelites and Amorites to hallucinate then everything they saw or believed (and wrote down for the benefit of the rest of us) was also an hallucination. Not real.

My bachelor's degree is in science, so I tend to hammer away from the scientific perspective, but I also perceive a fundamental religious disconnect. The fly in the ointment is immutability, both from the standpoint of immutable physical laws and the immutability of God who created them.
The notion of laws within laws is not necessarily invalid, but the notion of laws within laws that negate one another without consequences (which is what would be required to, for example, stop the rotation of the earth) is more than a little problematic. It is not possible outside of the realm of imagination and fantasy. A comparative parallel might be drawn between the theoretical existence of matter and antimatter, the combination of which necessarily involves annihilation, a variation of which would also be the outcome when fundamental physical laws are in collision. And if God, who must be by definition immutable, can negate the immutability of laws He set up, then He is not immutable - which is, again, not possible unless one says that God can be both immutable and not immutable if He wants to be, because He can do whatever He wants.

And then it would be magic, Tammy, because the physical universe is physical because of the laws (or mechanisms or principles if you prefer) that He set in place to govern it. To contravene those mechanisms would be to contravene the physical universe itself, which goes to the original question. Assuming that God created the universe, and this tiny speck of a planet that is a part of it, it all exists only because of the laws he put in place. God the creator is the ultimate cause and effect guy. Do this, that happens. If he was able to stop the planet from spinning with no subsidiary consequences, then what does he do to accomplish it, yet maintain consistency with the Laws that he set up?

The only significant flaw in your cheat code theory, QWT, is when you dick with the programming the computer doesn't explode, whereas stopping the rotation of the earth would cause the oceans to wash over the land masses, the atmosphere to whip up into the mother of all hurricanes, the mountains to tumble, the crust of the earth itself to rupture and buckle and spew forth its molten core and every thing living and inert on the surface of the ground, in the water and in the air to be instantaneously torn apart - all at over 1,000 mph. The game wouldn't be extended, it would be over.
