I hadn't realised before now that Gladiator is so wise and sensitive. Best thing on the page.

"Are you In the Truth?"
by Nickolas ini can't remember the last time i was asked that question because it has been many years.
nor do i remember my response to the questioner but it no doubt contributed to not being asked the question since.

No, garyneal, but this is too hilarious to interrupt. I do appreciate you asking.

Ok, I'm back for a short while.
Oh..did I say "will"? ;^)
Yes, you did. You said And yes, happiness depend on what happens. It is called the indefinite future tense. As in "Will you enjoy yourself at the dance?" and the response "it depends on what happens." I take my English grammar seriously. Call me a nitpicker.
I also know that Jesus gave us a very important mission, to evangelize the nations
And that is why atheists look upon Christians as the pains in the ass they are. We would be content to just live and let live, but you will not be content until everyone thinks the same way you do, because your holy book commands you to get into everyone's face. You are all the same in that regard, the worst of the bunch are the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons. Yes, yes, I know that Their flavour of Christianity is wrong and only Your flavour is right but to those of us who dare to think for ourselves it is all the same. Wake up.
I have one question for you folks - Vander and Shelby and Tammy et al. I will assume that you were all born in North America, probably the USA. Would I be speaking to Christians (regardless of flavour) if you were all born in Iraq or Iran? Would you think the same way you do if not for the accidental location of your births? There is no greater delusion than self delusion.
Now on to watch a little idiot box. I am an equal opportunity listener.

Just passing through on my way to the workshop.
And yes, happiness depend on what happens.
I must disagree. Happiness is a state of mind, which depends on what is happening, not what will happen.
Please, then... do not leave the thread on my/our account.
I am leaving the thread, for now, because I have to get some work done, Shelby. I'll be baack, to quote your intrepid Governor. And my offer to send you money if you'd go away was in the context of you not demanding money for the priviledge of you sharing your opinion with us. A joke, m'dear.
You into the shrooms again, Outlaw?
Now, I really must get some work done.

And you will be shown such, for it will occur.
The empty promise of Christianity, from my perspective, which will bear fruit only if I believe, but since I do not believe will not happen. A devine Catch-22.
Tell me, please... where is the "con" in all of this? I have a life, a good job, an education, a home, a husband who loves me, children who love, two puppies who adore me (!), family and friends who love me... and I get to share the truth about God and Christ. Where, pray tell me, is the CON? I see none.
On this you are absolutely right, Shelby. Happiness and the pursuit of happiness are all that is important. Nothing else really matters. However, there are many, many happy people in the world who do not believe as you do, so all the happy people in the world cannot be embracing the same beliefs. What makes you happy is a good thing, but it is not necessarily true.
Signing off for now. Thanks for the intelligent conversation, all.

Just curious, Shelly. Has anyone ever accused you of being a bit of a nut?
And it's Nick, Shelly, not Nic.

You feel Him inside you, don't you, PSacramento? I understand that. But He is less of a part of you than your ancestors, whose blood flows through your veins and whose flesh covers your bones. You know Him, but not them. You just know. That's all. You just know. And you believe that this is not learned behaviour but a manifestation of the Holy Spirit. Ok. It doesn't compute with me, but I am completely ok that it is what is important to you.
We have gone off topic rather badly, but I suppose that was inevitable. I was seeking to debunk the WT proposition of The Truth by revealing the flaws within a couple of small points and have unleashed a flood of negative emotion instead.
I think, however, I can safely say that PSacramento, Tammy, Shelby and Vander and others who so graciously posted on this thread are on the same page in one key respect, and that is we do not buy into the Watchtower version of The Truth.
