Although it isn't anything I hadn't already learned, I'm about halfway through the book "Jehovah Unmasked!" and what an eye opener it is, straight out of the pages of the Bible. According to the "Word of God", "Jehovah" REALLY IS SATAN, the god of THIS WORLD.
Now that's a twist I hadn't heard before. I might call this strategy the ultimate hard sell.

Here's where we're different, JYD. Of course one needs to learn the ropes before he ventures into the ring. You apparently didn't do that. You are a verbal street fighter against well trained psychological combatants. I am confrontational by nature and I am a successful man. Don't be concerned about my street smarts or ability to go for the juglar when required, son, I'll be just fine once I know all the facts I need to know. But, I don't plan to go there. There's a softer solution to the one you promote and that's the one I'm seeking.
And they do this on purpose. Children are not allowed to do anything in school that might make them independent of the witlesses. They are trained to pio-sneer or go to Beth Hell, not work. They are threatened with destruction if they do not obey. Everything outside is "from Satan". They are dragged to boasting sessions, and pressured to get baptized at age 6 (some make it to their teens, but too many get baptized in their single digits).
WTW, you nailed the primary dynamic of this thing. It's entrapment of the innocent followed by blackmail. Edit: followed by harrassment, isolation and financial ruin if you defy them. No. They are good people, perhaps, but they are trying to get you to dabble in an organisation that wants nothing more than to get inside your head and bring you in. It is unlikely you will be able to change their minds while they are interested only in changing yours. The allure of the Watchtower is more powerful than you might think. Cut it off while you still have the ability to think for yourself.

If you visit the official Watchtower site you will read that the Supreme Court has upheld the Watchtower's right to disfellowship and shun its members. Kind of a puzzling justification, given that the Supreme Court has also upheld a woman's right to abortion. This is as disingenuous as the Society's trumpeting of every scientific discovery that supports its worldview while condemning every scientific discovery that contradicts it. It never ceases to amaze me how two-faced the Watchtower Society is.

here is what it is like to those on the inside of the door:.
the children got up about an hour earlier than normal.
obviously, they are anxious to start opening up the presents under the tree (and most children are not going to want to sleep in on christmas morning).
It happened only once, a long time ago. My wife wouldn't celebrate but I insisted that the kids have as normal a Chistmas as possible so we'd go as a family to the homes of our parents. She would make herself scarce during the gift exchange. A sad tradeoff, but I took what I could get. While at the home of my parents a couple of Witnesses came to the door late Christmas morning and I answered. I saw the book cases and suits and before the lead guy got a single word out I said "Merry Christmas, now fuck off" and closed the door. I could not believe their chutzpah. Christmas morning, for chrissakes. I told no-one in the house about it just so there would be no damper on the day. My mother already had a hate-on for Jehovah's Witnesses and last thing I needed was for sparks to fly. I almost forgot about this event. Not sure I'm happy remembering it.
