Are you up and down all night?
by compound complex ini am - every hour or so - but last night i slept for 5 hours uninterrupted, and this despite 4 cups of coffee late afternoon.
still can't account for what was for me tantamount to a full-night's sleep .... .
do you sleep well most nights?.

100 watt incandescent bulbs banned: What now?
by WTWizard inthis is a trend throughout the world, and the united tyranny of stupidity has joined the ranks of countries where you can no longer get a 100 watt incandescent light bulb.
next year, the 75 watt bulbs go.
and, in 2016, even the halogen lights that replace them are slated for bans.. where to turn to now?

Thanks, Jim. By any chance, have you penciled out the benefit/payback of driving a Prius?
Neither solar nor wind systems have been able to truly overcome the storage problem in a practical way so that these power sources are practical.
I live 3 miles upriver from the Bonneville (hydroelectric) Dam. They have been forced to accept wind power from the huge, growing, wind farms to the east. They have to integrate the wind power into the grid when it reaches a certain output over a certain amount of time. While this is going on they must shut down turbines and divert hydroelectric power, water over the dam, so to speak. Patching in this source of power is not efficient. It is almost impossible to integrate wind or solar into fossil fuel systems. On the scale of an individuals own use, as in your case, the investment in a battery storage method is not a big deal. More power to you!

Sounds great, Jim. I especially like the idea of daytime solar recharge for the use of LED lighting after dark.
My only question is, what did all this cost?
If a poor, unemployed, person could scratch together the money to install such a system in his humble, rented digs, what kind of payoff time would it take to make it practical?

AK Mc. The leg cramps may be helped by drinking more water. I know it's not what you want to do when you then have to get up to pee in the wee wee hours.
getting older sucks, but on the other hand it is better than the alternative.

Welcome to big brother. The light bulbs are going the way of toilets that actually flush properly.

I consider two interuptions for peepee a good night, typically 2:30 and again about 4:30. I dream so much! Fortunately my dreams are usually benign but entertaining. Sometimes long gone relatives visit and they are so real! I am dissapointed in the lack sex in my PG dreams.
I heard a radio commercial for some kind of over the counter mens prostate pills, Saw palmetto or something...I had to laugh out loud when he said, "Men, do you have to get up to urinate at night?" My first thought was, "Damn well hope so! If I don't I'll have to wear Depends"

I've got it! Tell her you and Mr Jones are considering trying a swinger/swap party.
This would be perfect if it came back through your Mom.
"What, are you crazy?...I wasn't going to say anything, but she has been feeling me out about doing that!"

I like that! "Hey, I ran out of gas and need you to pick up some and come rescue me"
Another advantage of being cool is that you can "misinform" and manipulate easily.

Jonsey, You're the only one who can make the decision to confront her or not. You are smart, and I know you have analyzed the potential repercussions, whatever they might be, and decided it's to YOUR advantage to stay cool.
I have learned over the years that venting feelings feels really good and righteous at the time but it is really better keep your 'cards' close to your vest.
You are right to warn your son about the gossip situation.

spin it to the left or spin it to the right, just pick your source, and you can spin it just the way you want it.
All the Drudge report is is a menu of dozens of sources from all points of the compass. Hard to understand some of the put down comments above...unless they just jumped to conclusions.
I seldom use the site because it usually locks up after a link or two.
