Who really is the faithful and discreet Coca Rocha?
Never heard of her until this thread.
once i was little boy in fort worth, texas living with my maw maw and paw paw and mommy.. then, i was an 18 year old 6'4'' skinny 165lb religious nut being dipped in a baptismal during a local assembly.. suddenly, i was 20 and listening to a jail cell door clang behind me as a conscientious objector.. wow!
23 years old and put on parole until my 6 years sentence was ended!
i got married to a nice jw girl and had 3 kids!.
Why, you're just a whippersnapper!
I was a 16 month old man of the world when you were born.
Congratulations, kid.
at the last elders school i heard from a few different attendees that the average age was easily 60+.
there will be a lot of elders gone within the next 10yrs.
there is nowhere near enough young brothers to replace these ageing elders.
Haven't read all the above posts. Here's my opinion.
The new elder arrangement was introduced in the early '70s. This changed the static 3 positions of Congregation (company) servant, Watchtower Study servant and Bible study servant.
The number of elders was based on the available brothers who qualified. this might be 6 or 7 or whatever # of elders in a congregation. There were now 5 duty positions. The judicial committee was made up of 3 elders from the 5 positions and rotated one JC member per year.
The qualifications to an elder were fairly stringent.
Now that the large pool of "older men" has started to dry up, they are going to have to push ministerial servants to 'reach out' and this means lowering the original standards, such as they were. These younger men are going to be harder to handle and will ask more questions, etc.
Just another problem for an organization that has gone past it's experation date.
i'm a bit excited about this to be honest with you.
i'm not even remotely a cycling fan, but all this controversy made it a bit difficult to simply ignore.
i'm curious to see how he does when those questions come at him full force.
Nope. It is the typical celebrity/politician, etc. who has been finally caught red handed and ran out of lies who then wants to apologize.
Not interested in anything this ego maniac jerk has to say.
Think about all the cyclists he competed against who did not cheat and put their heart and soul into the competition.
for those of you who used to be jws, or who are active, if the society was in charge of the earth, how many people do you think you would have seen stoned during your lifetimes?
i realize some elders can be zealous about their work, but if they'd actually had administrative authority to have kh members stoned to death, how many elders did you know who would have been zealous enough to really order them?.
did you know any elders who would have ordered stonings, even if the condemned people had been willing to repent?.
Long HG
"I don't know about the elders but there might have been some women (eldresses) there who would have wanted to stone some sister. Kill the competition.
These would be the women who instigate those "special needs" talks about modesty in dress. "
I think your observation is spot on and deserves a thread of its own. I certainly can testify to the influence of "eldresses" or "elderettes" that I knew, or was related to.
pm me if you want to come.. .
karter..
Glander Jr. is there now. He is having a great time. He landed in Auckland on the 2 Jan and returns 2 Feb. Touring N & S islands.
Happy B Day!

This is a good question.
As elders, we were told that DF'ing was the same as a death sentence (should Armageddon arrive before such one could be reinstated).
For a relatively small congregation, my guess is we DF'd about 6 people on the JC's I served on. They were all pretty clear cut, except one, that still haunts me to this day, over 30 years later.
I know I would have never have participated in a DF'ing if it was to end in a literal execution.
I can think of more than one elder I knew who would have self-righteously cast the first stone.
i hear of these stories of elders swapping wives, i remember when i was young hearing of three elders in florida doing this and getting dfed.
my question is this how is it possible to bring this up in conversation?
it seems impossible, how can there be multi elders that know each other willing and the wives?
When the hot tub starts looking like a giant bowl of egg drop soup, get out, pronto!
i read this comment on the memorial page for a 93 yr old jw i knew who died--.
as our district overseer said, 'some of us will be in the passenger car on this train heading into jehovah's new system, and some of us will be in the sleeper car.
he's having the best nap of his life.
