if i remember correctly there were more than 100 million books distributed around the world in the the 1960`s.. and if i remember correctly it was listed amongst the ten most distributed/published books by the guiness book of records .. and if i`m not mistaken "paradise lost to paradise regained" was also on this list.
and even in one year about that time their were no less than four of the societys publications on the 10 most distributed books ever.
at that time.. how much of what was printed in those publications then, is relevant to what is beleived today.
Notice it says "...disposal through non-commercial channels...106+ million..."
How many of those little blue books were printed and how many were actually 'placed'?
I doubt there were anywhere near that number ever cracked open.

My Dad smoked Bull Durham roll your owns. The little bag had a drawstring and a packet of papers on the back. In one smooth motion he could roll a cigarette, lick the paper, smooth it then twist the ends. Strike a match with his thumb and take a big draw. I watched him do it a hundred times. He would flip the drawstring between his teeth and draw the bag closed.
When he could afford ready-mades he smoked Winston and Marlboros. Then the Watchtower cracked down in the late sixties and early seventies so he quit.
one of the elders was missing his service bag and suspected that one of the publishers stole it.
he was determined to root out who did it so he decided to give a local needs part on the ten commandments focusing on you must not steal.. he enlisted the help of a trusted ministerial servant and got him to stand at the back of the kingdom hall during the part.
he told the ms that he would read off the ten commandments and when he got to the one "you must not steal" he would pause longer than usual and see if anyone acted nervous or suspicious.
it's a shame not to recycle humor for the folks who've never heard it.

I used to be happy with just ordinary taco sauce and then I moved on to Tabasco.
Someone gave me a bottle of Tabasco brand Habenero and now I'm breaking into peoples houses to support my habit.
