  i've been a lurker here and an inactive jw for a number of years.

  i've always had some annoying doubts but brushed it aside but over the last few years i've had time to "think" away from the wt.

  perhaps there is no paradise, maybe no god and this life is all there is.

  I understand your feelings about not being a burden, soontobe.

  But leave yourself open to the possibility that, at some point, even though your body is falling apart you still may have an active mind. Maybe you can still see beauty and hear beautiful music. Then there is the grandchildren.

  I was involved a conversation on this subject once when someone very firmly asserted, "I don't want to get to the point that I'm not having any fun and all I'm doing is breathing"

  My reply was, "well, breathing is fun."

  Yet in reality one of the first things that both Hitler and Stalin did was attack Labor Unions. Just as did both Thatcher and Reagan.

  Regardless of what they might have done right, Hitler and Stalin were evil tyrants.

  Our dogs and cats will live about 12-15 years. Elephants and turtles can be over a hundred. Plant lifespan can vary from one spring and summer for a dandelion to 2,000 years for a juniper tree..

  Today, many human cultures are only living an average of 45-50 years.

  I am hoping for 80+ but I don't want to think about much more if I'm going to be a helpless burden with no purpose other than to breath and keep a heartbeat.

  I'm not really too concerned about dying. As Woody Allen said, I just don't want to be there when it happens.

  The czeck currency, a couple of hundred years ago, was based on cat skins. The cold climate made them very valuable for clothing, hats, etc.. To have a Kat in the hat could keep your ears from freezing.

  $689.00 US isn't bad for a czech girl. Does that include airfare?
