  At a time like this, a lot of frustration comes out in the form of deeply felt emotional convictions. Unfortunately, they do not hold the solution to preventing these horrors.

  There is an answer, but it would involve the entire evolution of western society in respect to everything from entertainment to mental health screening and action to prevent young people from regarding human life as worthless, including their own.

  Right now these incidents fall in the category of suicide terrorist attacks on innocents.

  We must start guarding our schools as we do our courts and transportation points.

  Maybe because God is an invention of man's. A comforting illusion that is on a level with Santa Clause and can be used to control masses.

  Hard Boiled Eggs Cannot Be Peeled . . . Ever!

  good morning, friends:.

  it's nearly 3:00 a.m., and i needed a midnight snack.

  i didn't want to fry an egg so i tried to peel a couple cooked eggs.

  unsolicited tips

  1. temper the refrig. cold eggs in warm tap water while waiting for water to boil.

  2. never put eggs in the cold water and let it come to a boil. This will overcook them for sure.

  3. gently lower eggs into boiling water and cook 11-12 minutes only.

  4. remove from boiling water and immerse briefly in cold water.

  You can peel them straightaway or mark with pencil and put them in frig unpeeled until ready to eat. They will keep several days.

  In elementary school a pal of mine always brought a HB egg in his sack lunch. He would crack it on his head and then peel it. I took a raw egg to school and switched it with his HB egg. We watched as he broke the raw egg on his head.

  i know this might sound silly but field service did provide a strange type of good feelings after i was done.

  i called this the "halo-effect" because i felt so "righteous, obedient and good" for taking the weirdos or "the friends" in my station wagon.

  vans and station wagon owners in the congregations often get used hard, pile up seven whacks and your off!

  Anyone else like to sew??? What kind of Machine do you use???

  i'm ready to get my sewing machines out of hiding, and will be sewing once again this winter.

  i'd like to start quilting again, as it is fun to do, eases stress, and is healthier than just sitting in front of the tv.

  i have even designed a few items of clothing in the past that i have sold, although i am by no means another madeleine vionet or issey miyake-lol.. i've always liked sewing machines even as a child (much to the dismay of my parents-lol), and there are a couple favorites that i have had for many years.

  what possible benefit did they get out of it from the bible story ?

  The boy who cried wolf eventually lost credibility.

  They did this mea culpa before in the early eighties. It is so lame. But it proves the point, this isn't about truth, it is about cult allegiance. They have followers who's live are so entangled with the WT that they CANNOT leave. They have become hostages to a circumstance and it doesn't have a goddamned thing to do with spiritual truth.

  Jesus said that a loving father would not give his children a snake or a stone when they asked for bread.

  If you see this when you are young you can deal with it, i.e. - leave. But if you have spent decades in it and involved your children and g-children, etc etc

  you might as well see it through...you're a victim.

  My wife has a Viking and a natural talent for sewing. She goes to thrift stores looking for old patterns. If she doesn't have a pattern she makes one from newspaper. She can turn out beautiful stuff in just a couple of hours. It is kind of amazing to me how fast she works. She had a pattern for a stuffed kangaroo with pouch and baby kanga which she made in an afternoon for a grandaughters 2nd birthday.

  She can also crochet beautiful king size bed spreads in about a week while watching TV in the evening.

  I can sew a button back on a shirt in a couple of hours.

  Growing up in the late forties and early 50's we always went to rented or borrowed facilities. As a boy I loved getting to the meeting early and setting up folding chairs with other boys in a big empty room, then clearing them after the meeting.

  I remember a place in Eureka, Ca in about 1950 where we sat on wooden benches with backs. They were so rough they had been covered with butcher paper held in place with thumbtacks. (I once pulled out a tack and placed under the sister next to me when she returned from the bathroom. )

  The KH in Modesto CA in the late forties was owned by a well to do brother who turned apostate! The cong got out of his building as quickly as possible and rented another place. By the early 80's there were 7 congs in town and they had built 5 KHalls, all financed by the WT and paid by the cong. like a monthly mortage payment. The cong. also bought a truckload of the WT paper goods every month. Then the cong. donated to contribution boxes and if the cong.came up short for utilities and maintenance the cong. was told of the shortfall that needed to be covered. Then there was the CO visit expenses, etc.

  The Watchtower makes out like a bandit.
