I Do Not Think Everyone That is a JW Wastes Their Life

my 97 year old grandmother died last week.

she was actually born and raised a jw.

her mother (my great grandmother) was a russelite.

I think it's possible to live a full and productive life as a dub, and it's possible to be happy. I've seen enough examples. The one thing that really pisses me off is when they 'encouraged' everyone to not get married and have children 'in this system of things'. I used to know a blind old sister in her 90's, who never married, and never even kissed a boy as a teenager. she maintained that she wouldn't have it any other way. I have to say she was the most bubbly, joyful old person I have ever met. her enthusiasm was infectious. She was such a nice person. It's such a pity she never married or had kids. I feel these people really had something stolen from them for the sake of a wicked doctrine.

Condolences to you, Magwitch. It's good to reflect on a person's happy life. It eases the pain.

Regarding the billions of corpses, it's clearly obvious what will happen. Just like Jehovah turned the lions and tigers into flesh eaters after the flood, so too he will make all the millions of dairy cows meat eaters after Armageddon, for a short amount of time. After they've picked the bones clean, he'll turn them back veggie again.

for me, i think it's that the witnesses teach they are god's spokesman.

they represent his "faithful & discreet slave"....and that they alone are expounders of the only truth and that if you disagree with anything they teach, you are considered worse than vomit.. it's unbelievable because these people are wrong so many times, it cannot be excused!.

as a witness, you must accept every viewpoint and if you (and your family) do not accept it all, hook, line and sinker, you are "apostates"!!!.

I think most of us have only been exposed to one dangerous cult, so our experience is limited. I'm sure Muslims, Mormons and Buddhists are just as reprehensible in other ways.

I'm not falling over myself to get involved in any other deluded religion. I have enough experience as a Dub.

If you only use your home PC to connect to the net, sounds like your PC might be compromised. I always back up my passwords and stuff onto a flash disc, and access it from a non-web enabled netbook.

Antivirus really is worth the money. I pay about £30 a year.

i have pioneered every time i possibly could, gave talks... i was a good jw!

but for over 40 years, i had nagging doubts about the character of god.

to make a long story short, i'm now a happy atheist!

I could never go back to christian denominations, but I might one day become a hindu. I like that it's peaceful, and teaches kindness to animals, and the gods look cool like pokemons. Plus, I don't think they proselytize.

The big wrench for me was realizing there's no everlasting life. I think I bought into it for maybe about 2 years, then reality set in. I just don't see why I should devote 2 hours a week to go to church and praise something that isn't there. Now I just worship me. I am feckin awesome.
