My memory of the 1975 fiasco (born in 1970)
by Lady Zombie indrew sagan posted this fine thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/160876/1.ashx in which a few people remarked that hardly anyone under the age of 40 even knows about the 1975 failed prediction.. i was born in 1970 and i do remember the 1975 fiasco.
for what it's worth, here are my memories and how it was explained to me.. late in 1968 my parents decided to have me because, like many other jws, they thought that i would never have to deal with the world or go to school.
they carefully planned to have me during the year of 1970 because they didn't want to go through armagedon with an infant, so they figured if i was 5 years old, i would be old enough to run, feed myself, and at least know enough to take shelter from the elements or hide.

I often what was it like to a Jehovah Witness during the 1960's in the United States with the Vietnam War,Students Protests and revolutions that were occuring in other countries.Fighting for independence.I bet for many news events and bible prophecy seemed to have gone hand in hand.Along with other chaotic events that symbolized the 1960's and early 1970's

1975 recording "Stay Alive 'til '75"
by Pathofthorns inthis real audio recording of a district overseer in 1968 is one of the most disturbing things i came accross in my surfing.
it perfectly demonstrates the misleading nature of the "we never said 1975" statement.
while perhaps technically true, see if this talk doesn't make any loyal jw rethink what was really said about 1975.. download real audio if you don't already have it to listen to this talk.

I thought that audio was very disturbing and creepy. When I first heard it on youtube it distrubed me to think people were actually buying into all of what this man was saying.Nowadays people would think that Charles Suntko would need to be commited to a mental institution.

Wow compared to the JW's of today they seem much happier. They look as if they have really found the truth.Today many just seem either sad or severly depressed but yet again with their end of times mind set.How can you not be sad or depressed? With the thought of Armageddon looming over our head.

Remember when assemblies were fun?
by Aphrodite ini just remembered when i was a kid and we would go to the assembly, it was fun because we got to buy new clothes and put extra effort into looking good.
when we would get there you could save your seats and even save some for your friends, then go off looking for them.. i used to love our circuit assembly because of the food.
it was at the assembly hall and there was a big kitchen, some of my favourite brothers worked in that kitchen, sometimes i was allowed to go in and help.

Conventions were okay for me when I was younger. But as I got older they older seemed mundane and boring.I never really like I fit in with everybody anyway.

Twickenham Assembly 1963 newsreel
by dozy ina bit before my time , but hopefully of interest to some.
the food service brings back memories of the 70's & 80's before it was "simplified" by the wtbts.. it would seem that the 60's & early 70's were very much a golden era for the society , before the 1975 debacle.
it is always amazing watching baptisms of adults - i honestly can't remember the last time a reasonably compus mentis adult was baptised at an asembly.. http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=chrp_&m=jz1jo9yc4yjrty&b=tdwz1ywjej1njt4nmqic2a.

Wow seeing those images have shown a side of the Jehovah Witness. That is today long gone, it seems that back than they were much happier and less miserable than today. In where everybody looks tired and burnt out from working a full work.
