  The classic features of a JW wedding are:

  firstly a wedding/sales talk that mostly features heavily on how the woman should behave (hint, doormat) and lightly brushes over the fact of the husbands bevhaviour ( oh yeah he should treat her well).

  the reception normaly at some crummy comunity hall with yellowed ceilings and chucks of damp plaster falling off the walls.

  the seats normaly arranged facing eachother all around the edge, so that theres a huge unused space in the middle and everyone is climbing over everyone elses legs to get to their chair.. a big spread donated by everyone, normaly an ode to food poisoning.

  by a pretty jw lady to the memorial.

  hubby got the door but waited for me to come to the door (he was on the phone).

  i listened to her introduction and held the memorial tract, then i handed it back and said quite firmly that i was not interested.

  i don't know whether this has ever been asked, so i apologize if i'm repeating.. what did you do at the last meeting you ever attended?

  did you stay for the whole thing?

  what made you realize that this was your last meeting, or did you not know it would be your last meeting??.

  The last one i went to was on November of 2008.The talk was guarding your Sprituality.I could not wait to leave, those were some stresful times.Also it was my first college semester, so I was balancing school with meetings.Today being a full time college student, I just could not do it.

  Has anyone left still believing it was the truth?

  it seems that most xjws have left because at one point in their jw life something happened that made them start to think something wasn't right with the religion.

  when i left, i still believed the jws had "the truth".

  i was dying inside, trapped and unhappy (another poster's words, but describes exactly how i felt).

  an tutuor who i am good friends with said to me recently "pretty soon there will be a revolution here in the u.s, because the poor are going to get tired of getting screwed over.i think with the way things are we might start some violence in the u.s such as what is going on in wisconsin with the labor protests.give me your thoughts on what you think..

  JW superstitions about the memorial -

  now that we are all thinking about jw memorial - i was just remembering all the silly superstitions the jws have put around this - their only holiday.

  as far as i can tell, none of these are actually biblical:.

  1) - it must be held only once per year.. 2) - it must be held on "nisan 14".. 3) - it must be held after sundown.. 4) - the bread must be unleavened.. 5) - the wine must be plain (not fortified) red wine.
