When I was Jw yes but as I got older I was not scared .When 9/11 happend when I was younger I was very scared about Armageddon happening and then to top it off my school had a lock down drill because they thought that mail coming in had white power on it which they thought was Athrax.Talk about being scared but now I don't even worry, life is too short to worry aobut something that will never even really happen.

Were you afraid of Armageddon?
by cyberjesus ini was dfd in 1995 however i still believed it was the truth until 2009. and until then i was fearful of armageddon's day.. i remember every time i'd see a dark sky with thunders and lighting i would question if that was it.
the news of any major disaster, hurricanes earthquakes would ignite fear inside me and i would think that could be the beginning of the end.. when i was around 8 i remember going to visit my grandma and she was watching the news.
a major conflict in the middle east had ended and some president said that the world was not in peace.

Paranoia is killing me
by FifthOfNovember inwhen i have "worldly" friends over i am constantly checking the window every time i hear something that even remotely sounds like a car door.. when i play violent video games i constantly pause the game and look out of the window every time i think i hear a car door.. when i go to the movies to see something rated r i always look around for witnesses.. if i suspect witnesses will show up i "witness-proof" the house.
i hide 10 out of the 12 x-box games i own.
erase the history on my desktop, laptop, ipad, and cell phone.

I personally ,I am not a fanatical atheist, but I see religion and a belief in God as a delusion.I often think of a quote that goes "When one person believes in a delusion that person is called insane, but when a group of people believe in a delusion it is called religon. That is what is wrong with religion people believing in something that is not real and irrational and calling it truth,

Aldous Huxley, Brave New World
by d ini was reading aldous huxley's brave new world and thinking, this is what society is becoming.especially since nowadays people want to be distracted with the use of the internet and social networking sites such as facebook and twitter.i like how it says " what we desire will destroy us" because in the grand scheme of things.
it most likely will and that is a very disturbing thoought.it is shocking how he wrote the book in 1932 and it was written during the 1920's, all of what he is sayiing is becoming a scary reality..

What I am trying to say was how people say seem to be distracted from everything.I mean as a society we do not deal with our problems in a healthy way.In Brave New World the people take Soma a drug to deal with ones's problems.Just like in this society people may take various antianxiety or antidepressants. This is nt bad for some as seeing some do need it.But however it can be abused which can cause problems.

George Orwell's '1984'
by Winston Smith :>D inon a thread it was asked how we chose our screen name.
mine is from the book george orwell's, 1984. .
'winston smith' is the protagonist who big brother tries to crush.. the book, along with george orwell's animal farm, are required reading imo for any jw/x-jw.. actually, the book is a great insight into what can happen when individuals surrender their freedom to any high control group.. .

Both George Orwell's 1984 and Aldous Huxley's Brave New World are good examples of dystopia which are books about world run amok with war.If I had to choose which book was more accurate I would Aldous Huxley's Brave New World is more accurate to our very advanced society here in the United States.

Well thinks in part to reality tv many people do not see real life for what it is.Many people are too distracted with the use of tv to know what goes on in the real world.I am not saying televsion is bad, but if it is misused it can be a bad thing.Just think of the many hours a child today watches televsion.Long televsion hours can inhibit social skills among other such things.

It is not that I believe it will happen to the fullest, but I realize just like in the book we as humans have a increased need to be distracted and not want to deal with reality. Many people especially those in the U.S are this way.People in the U.S love distraction and not logical thinking.I for one am not that.

I like this quote from Aldous Huxley which goes "You will know the truth and the truth will get make you mad". Is that not the truth, once I learned the truth about the Jw's my blood was boiling. But now that I know the real truth I am content.
