at the moment I am enjoying reading Greek tragedy. Making my way through Aeshcylus' Prometheus Bound, The suppliants, Seven against Thebes, The Persians. All four plays are together in a slim Penguin Classics book. I realy enjoyed reading the translators foreword too.
Another is Seamus Heaney's The Burial at Thebes. this is another slim play and has as its heroine a woman (Antigone) who defies the King to bury her brother.

Australian campaigner concedes defeat on Working With Children checks
by MrMonroe inhttp://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/door-closes-on-jehovahs-witness-campaign/story-e6frf7jo-1226095887745.
sunday herald sun, melbourne.
jehovah's witness children will continue to doorknock neighbourhoods with adults who have failed to gain police background checks after a bid to stop the practice failed this week.. gippsland carpenter steven unthank, a former member of the religion who says he was abused as a teen by a church elder, was given approval by victoria's chief magistrate to take the unusual step of launching a private prosecution of the religion over its refusal to require ministers to gain police checks, but says he cannot afford the $350 fee for filing the charges.. mr unthank yesterday said he could not pursue the religion on his own.. he said it was a disgrace that neither victoria police nor the justice department would enforce the working with children act, which requires ministers of religion to gain police checks before working unsupervised with minors.. the religion's corporate arm in australia, the watch tower society, says it does not believe its ministers need to obtain background checks to work with children because they do not typically work unsupervised with children.. ``it's an absolute beatup,'' a spokesman said.

hi wonder*woman, welcome
we can help with the fear and lonliness you are feeling as you can come here anytime day or night and you will find friendship and support - this I can promise.
The pain due to shunning is a long slow process and I agree that it is like mourning over a death in the family. We can mourn with you.

What would be your reaction if the original ten commandments were found written in hieroglyphic
by Joey Jo-Jo inaccording to historians, the hebrew language came at a later date and there is strong evidence to support that the original writtings of moses were destroyed and and was re-writen by ezra.. remember that the account explains that moses became part of the egyption royal family, did he learn the arts of horus and others, the same with aaron, why was aaron quick to make a golden calf?
why did the people wanted to become like gods, and why when moses found out made them drink the golden calf?.
1 when the people saw that moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around aaron and said, come, make us gods[a] who will go before us.

Do modern-day Israelis and Arabs realize they are the same group I've read that they are both semitic.

arrogance and pride have brought about the downfall of many a haughty ruler. JW leaders and their teachings display such qualities in spades. Keep on reminding her even when a discussion of other teachings comes up.
The ploy of working backwards to find evidence and support for a conclusion is another popular mode of JW reasoning.

wow so many people here with shoulder pain - me too. for insomnia I went to see my doctor and she told me that the government is making it very difficult for doctors to prescribe meds for insomnia!!!
she suggested to try somnex but not every night. So I take this over the counter remedy once or twice a week and it works.
The trouble with shoulder pain is that in time it can knock out the lower spine because of the posture one sometimes needs to adopt. Had myself checked out last week - MRI, emg etc. I'm hoping to receive some more effective treatment. Traction was mentioned, local injections - the worst case scenario is surgery.
whilst waiting for the final results I have been making some lifestyle changes and these have been helping with my sleep. taken up simple yoga. this is very calming and helps with the pain.

", what would you recommend?.

sizmik, believe me, I was not suggesting anything lacking in you or your post. When you make such inferences please also allow for other inferences that would indicate fullness

sizemike, atheists are free thinkers so our recommendations can be quite objective (joking)
Unitarians and quakers have been recommended by atheists here and indeed those religions welcome atheists.
I would recommend a philosophical path or a literary path. Seneca is a marvellous guy to grapple with. Incidently he was a contemporary of Jesus Christ, so it would be quite interesting to compare his writings with what is attributed to Jesus Christ and when we do this we find many similarities but also lots of differences. He was a stoic and often entered discussions with epicureans. He tutored nero and from the shadows ruled Rome on Nero's behalf along with another guy. Eventaully Nero cut himself loose from Seneca and we can guess why. Seneca was eventually forced to commit suicide. Many of his writings are available online.
