At the age of 48 I just graduated with my BA degree from college and I am on top of the world
by booker-t ini thought i would never get my college degree from a university in this century at the age of 48 but i did it and graduated with an "a-" average.
i did this all the while working a full time job and going to school full time.
it can be done and now i love school to death.

Does mankind need religon to have morality?
by highdose inan arguement i've encountered recently is: god tells us right from wrong.
if you don't have a reason to do right instead of wrong then no one will have any morals.. i disagree with this entirely of course.
what kind of morality is it when you are only doing what is right out of fear of being punished for doing what is wrong?.

on neighbourhood watch schemes
by Curtains inthe police are encouraging residents to form neighbourhood watch groups and are trying to get as many people involved as poss.
does anyone here have experience of this kind of thing?
i think i might join but on the other hand i think it may be quite risky and alienating.. the huge police presence after the london riots will gradually lessen and the gangs will be back.

On becoming atheist - the tug of war
by Nickolas inperhaps, if you are a theist, you might not want to read this.
if you are nevertheless curious about how an atheist thinks, then please read on.. i don't think there are any active members of this board who have been atheists all their lives (are there?).
i think virtually all of us transitioned into non-belief from a religious beginning.

Hello there everyone.
by Yr Wyddgrug ini'm a long time lurker here.. i'm not and never have been a jw, but i am trying to get an understanding of what it means to be disfellowshipped for the sake of someone i know.. my husband and i pastor a small church, we're nothing special, just a group of people who get together to seek god.
we're open to everyone and people pop in as they want to.
recently a woman in her early twenties has started turning up.
