  Has a very poorly dog.........

  bit of background info..... we have a neighbour who is a complete psychopath, she has tried to get us evicted, turned neighbours against us, bad mouthed us to our visitors.. last year our dog who is a jack/staff and is very healthy started to go downhill.... lethergy, depression, vomiting bile, coughing.

  we took her to the vets who ran loads of tests on organ failure, cancer etc and they all came back clear.

  he repeatedly asked us if she could have eaten anything.

  just a few weeks back my wife and i attended the wedding ceremony of the child of a couple with which we associated in the past.

  he and i worked together in the same industrial complex and shared a common interest in antique cars.

  i liked the older british sports cars and he liked american steel.

  so basically Steven Uthank is simply making a submission on behalf of Jehovahs witness children and the panel he is making his submission to is not a court and is not designed to lay charges against any organisation or individual. If we put our heads together we can sort out this mess.

  nickolas, I would hesitate to label what you have described as a marriage of convenience and suggest that the the couple you describe have a very mature and independent outlook on marriage. Both get to enjoy their separate time doing the things they like and then they also have a lot of together time.

  In my own marriage the all or nothingness of the watchtower isn't my all or nothingness although it may be my husband's - and it isn't the all or nothingness of our marriage. My husband goes out of his way to understand me and I do the same for him although I have to admit we are intellectually and philosophically very different. I respect him and he respects me - the way I see it we are both partaking of eternal processes each in our own way and not the same ones. Also I think we have a dynamic marriage and I see no need for labelling it a marriage of convenience although there may be times when it is like that, we both know however that it is not always like that.

  mr monroe, one thing to remember is that Jehovahs witnesses as an organisation do not require you to be alone with other people's children as happens in sunday school arrangements. this imo is the point that means Mr unthank does not have a case

  state intervention can only go so far. It would surprise me greatly if Australia went further than the UK on this. Over here going further means loss of freedom.

  edit: another thing to consider is that if WT were to make it mandatory for ministers to undergo these checks then they would be promoting themselves as supplying child related activities as defined by the law -something they don't do (child related activities as defined by the law that is). WT wants adults going door to door - children are incidental to this and they certainly don't want to be seen as an organisation that provides separate activites for children.

  the way I see it Jehovahs witnesses do not provide activites for children wherein their parents/parental supervision is excluded.

  Plus Jehovahs witnesses, nowadays, are regularly told to always supervise their children. In contrast sunday school requires children to be handed to the care and supervision of a minister of the church for the duration of the class.

  I'd love to find loopholes but am not convinced there are any.

  But I'm not going to argue and will wait and see how this case turns out.
