You're right about the baggage thing, cultBgone. And you're right, this site is our meetup group.
Here on this site we all have at least one thing in common...we will never run out of things to talk about!
life is tough when you've spent your best years in the borg...how do you reconnect when kids are grown and you're close to retirement age?.

i am not a jehovah's witness but i am very interested, i have many questions and hope they can be answered here.. i do believe in god, privately.
i do say my prayers daily and do believe god helps me in countless ways.
but i don't go to any church.. i have always been impressed at how smart, polite and nice jehovah's witnesses are and i always make time to speak to them when they call at my door.
Welcome to the group, Lilly.

cultBgone,
Maybe there are certain hobbies/activities you enjoy or would like to try....karaoke, sewing, gardening, animal care, boating, yoga, Elvis Presley fan club, or whatever. Here's a website www.meetup.com where you put in your location and search for a group with a particular interest in your area. Put in "sewing" or "jazz" or whatever. OR if you don't have a particular hobby in mind, you can search by location and it'll list all the groups in that area. From that list you might find something that you hadn't thought of before. I got involved in a karaoke group and they meet at different locations on different evenings. I go only when I feel like it; it's not realy a club where you have to attend every meeting. It's just a means to connect with others who share a particular interest.
As for dating, there are sites such as eharmony.com that allow you to screen contacts before meeting them.
I hope these suggestions help.
yesterday, i saw a picture of a family signing kingdom melodies together.
it made me realize a fact that i am somewhat ashamed to admit:.
for over a decade, i have been aware of the false prophecies, the deceptive statements, the lack of scriptural support for many core practices and other issues with the witnesses.
But the wife will think that something very valuable was stolen and that maybe the person will end up finding Jehovah because of it. Meanwhile, a break from suck @$$ kingdom songs. |
Just tell the wife she can count it as a placement. Then she'll have an experience to relate on the platform at the next circus assembly.

Whenever I saw a sign like that I would NOT go in. Yet I've seen other publishers "rattle the gate" and enter. I live in a rural area where you have to drive from one house to the next. When there was a "No Trespassing" sign I would not enter. But most other publishers would. They think they have angelic protection. Most people who have pit bulls, german shepherds, and the like have them for a reason: to protect their property and families and to keep intruders out. I used to argue with my fellow publishers, "If Jehovah reads their hearts and sees good, He will see to it that they get the message. We do not have to risk our lives just to cover our territory."

Yes I too noticed the abrupt shift int he mood of the songs. They used to reflect emotion, love for Jehovah as a real person, and various other emotions. But the new ones are just emotionless chants. They remind me of the chants used by soldiers as they march along.

There is definitely no angelic protection. Some publishers get mugged while in service or while on their way home from meetings.

I've almost gotten attacked by dogs when in the ministry. Anyone going door to door needs to carry a weapon. I never went inside a fenced yard although other JWs did.
i have seen this photo several times but never any back story on it.
was this at bethel?
was this before or after the prohibition?
They do look rather "relaxed".
Well, Frazzled, I think they'd have to first hide it in a hangar and remove anything that identifies the plane, besides painting over the tail number of course. Some of the electronic equipment would transmit a signal that identifies the plane, so it would have to be removed. Sort of like the VIN number on a car. And of course they have to dispose of the passengers, probably remove the seats and convert it into a freight carrying vessel, or whatever else they want to do to it. I think if they do things liek this to it they might be able to use it more than once, unlike the 911 plot where the planes were essentially stolen but used immediately - and only once - for a specific mission.
