To Everyone:
Matt. 10:14 is undeniable evidence that Jws do not follow what Jesus advocates. "If anyone does not receive you or listen to what you have to say, leave that house or town, and once outside shake its dust from your feet." Would Jesus' advice have been necessary if he intended you to return where you are not welcome? Can you imagine Jesus appealing to the Roman authorities because Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum did not accept him? See Matt. 11:20-24. What will the WT gain if they win their case in Stratton? Will they feel more welcomed there then?

supreme advocacy: church of free speech, by tony mauro.
god doesn't have an interest in that.

As I was watching the news last night (CNN), the Supreme Court case (mentioned above) scrolled across the bottom of the screen, stating that JWs believe it negates the right of freedom of speech. But what about the homeowners freedom of privacy, especially if you say Jehovah's Witnesses are not welcome?

Living forever or immortal ?
by Simon injust a thought ... when describing jws and what they believe, be sure to tell people that they think they are immortal and will never die as this seems to sound a bit more 'looney tunes' than that they will live forever.. well, does to me anyway.
did you ever imagine how it sounded to joe public on the door while you showed them a crappy picture of 'paradise' from the livre forever book?
i'm sure the person was thinking:.

Thanks for posting the site. It seems to me that the Watchtower Society sees everyone else as Satan, so that it doesn't have to see the Satan it itself is. Like Jesus said: "Take the beam out of your own eye, then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brothers." (Paraprased)

Christian Pacifism
by Defender inwhile there has been many arguments in favor of supporting a not so stringent attitude towards pacifism and referring to biblical examples of cornelius and others, i believe that there are very clear scriptural arguments that compel honest christians to not participate in any national war whatsoever.. cornelius example is brought out to show that peter did not demand that cornelius must abandon his military position before accepting his christian faith and anointing of the holy spirit.. 1- the record does not show what cornelius did after his conversion.. 2- we have to remember that after receiving the gift of the holy spirit and being baptized, it is now the operation of the holy spirit and jesus christ that would direct the actions of cornelius from that time onward and not be totally dependant on what peter or others say.. 3- roman soldiers were not used to fight wars only, but they were also used as police force as well to maintain security and order in the territories that they occupied.
cornelius was probably more likely involved in policing duties at the time since there were no wars that are being fought in that area at the time and thus may not have felt compelled to abandon his position.
by the way, this same condition applies to the soldiers that john the baptist admonished.

Please, if Christians should not fight in wars, then may JWs and others with similar views, stop espousing a literal Armageddon where Jesus will supposedly wage war against the unbelieving kings and nations of the world. Revelations does depict him as the Lamb, does it not?

In "Questions From Readers" above immortality is defined as "without death" or deathlessness. Yet in order to receive spirit life in heaven the anointed do die. Yet those who inherit life on earth after Armageddon will never die. Who then are immortal?

Does God really have a Name?
by Flaming Seraphim ini find the name "jehovah" repugnant.
if i ever hear that name again i will surely throw up!
as if "jehovah" is god's real name anyway.
-
Kenneson
If the Name of God was so important why did He allow the exact pronunciation to be lost? Was it to allow the Watchtower Society the role of restoring the name "Jehovah?" But why was that necessary, especially when it was medieval Catholic scholars like Petrus Galatinus and Raymundus Martini who had already done that? And the name really comes from Latin and was adopted by the translators of the King James Version into the English. But most scholars today think this is a hybrid name and prefer Yahweh instead.
To sanctify God's name doesn't necessarily call for a specific name anymore that the terminology "In the name of the Law," memeans that the Law has a specific name. -

The Watchtower's Bible Scholars?
by stevieb1 inwitnesses are often told that is is not necessary to look to outside sources such as bible encyclopedias and commentaries because the society's writing department already has these and presents us with the best comments from them for us anyway.
what i have noticed though, is that there are many comments from 19th century commentators and not much in the way of quotes from modern-day bible scholars and their works.. i understand that at the recent kingdom ministry school it was said that the society has the best bible scholars available for our instuction.
if that was said (can anyone confirm?

The only "scholarship" I have observed in the Watchtower literature are quotes (sometimes misquotes) from books or individuals who favor their doctrines, zeal, or way of life.
