i thought long and hard before making this thread, that many will not agree with it but i think there needs to be balance and people to realise there are alternate viewpoints out there on many of these subjects, the ones that are most spoke about on this forum.
i was recently sent a full message containing mary's book and these links give the rebuttal to many of her points.
those that are still open-minded enough feel free to look over them even if in the end you still don't agree at least you have heard both the defence as well as the attack as they are on the internet.
The Watchtower acknowledged "some" of the responsibility for 1975. Heck! It should be all the responsibility. Do they imagine that the rank and file thought up that date? And who was it that kept it in the faces of the rank and file if not the literature and spokesmen of the Watchtower Society? What did they expect but for the rank and file to run with it? They can't even apologize wholeheartedly.

Anonymous Watchtower scholars with no credentials but their own claims to scholarship. How impressive. Not!

Renaia,
Because other religions have failed predictions about Armageddon and the second coming of Christ, why should we expect to find JWs among them? I always suspected they were no more than ONE of THEM while claiming to be the ONLY ONE!!!

Gladring,
It's utterly ridiculous to imagine that the U.N. is a government. Can you imagine the U.S. having a government within a government? We pay taxes to the U.S. government, not the U.N. Americans give their allegiance to the U.S. government, not the U.N. Lots of people have never been in the U.N. It is not any part of their lives. None of the nations that belong to the U.N. are willing to give up their sovereignty to the U.N. The U.N. cannot operate on its own; it has to depend on the o.k. of member nations.
pastor charles taze russells wife, maria, divorced him in 1906. the writings of maria russell e-document contains an eleven-page enlightening introduction that outlines her fall from her husbands affection because he said she was endeavoring to take over the editorship of his religious journal, zions watch tower.
is that true?
also discussed is the question of mrs. russells acumen as a writer which her husband and followers called into question.
Barbara,
I noticed that Rev. E.R. Barnard officiated at Maria's funeral. What was her affilation at this time?

Thanks you so much, Barbara. I had looked in the St. Petersburg paper for it, but had not found it. This is great.

Does anyone have Maria Russell's obituary? Or have a link to where I can find it? I think she died in St. Petersburg, Fla.
i thought after recently reading the bible i would put up for disussion some recent scriptures up which for me show that jesus never viewed himself as god and anyone listening would also see it this way too.. first mark 10 :17-20.
17as jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him.
"good teacher," he asked, "what must i do to inherit eternal life?
The passage about only God being good proves to me that Jesus was indeed claiming to be God. He was asking the young man: "How can you call me good if you don't believe I'm God, since only God is good?" He is certainly not denying that he is good. If Jesus didn't think He was good, why does He call Himself the Good Shepherd in John 10:14? Moreover, if a sinless person like Jesus is no good, what chance do any of us have? Heb. 4:15
anyone know what gary breaux does at patterson bethel aside from being on the us branch committee?
like what department he works in?
That sure sounds like a Louisiana name. I was born in a place called Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. There was in bridge there in the 1800s that connected one side of Bayou Teche to the other. It was built and owned by the Breaux family. The town was named for the family's bridge.
Is this fellow originally from Louisiana?
