This is just tremendous. The ministry I belong to provides the noon meals at the local Shelter Monday through Ffriday; I run the program. The Shelter manages the evening meals. Right now there are 6 kids staying here with their moms. I don't think any children or their moms should have to live in shelters. Awareness is a key to change. I applaud your grandson.

Watchtower Farms Cemetery gravestone photos - sad
by BonaFide infirst of all, if anyone is offended by the photos, then i will ask this topic to be removed.
i am posting the photos because i get sad sometimes about people being forgotten who tried so hard, even though they were wrong.
the cemetery is pretty easy to find, if you have any interest in finding it.

It is my understanding that Judge Rutherford, W.E. Van Amburgh, Hayden C. Covington, A.H. Macmillan,
J. Woodworth, and others are buried on the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society's plot on Staten Island. It would
be neat if someone could find where this plot is located. The cemetery records are said to have been destroyed
in a fire and no markers are believed to be there. However, if anyone lives near there it would be great just to go
over and double check. There have been comments in the literature made about individuals being buried there in
a designated area. See the following link:

The facts on crucifixion, stauros, and the "torture stake"
by Leolaia infinally, i will look at biblical and patristic evidence bearing on the crucifixion of jesus in particular.
we need to examine the earliest known descriptions of the kind of crucifixion adopted by the romans and the specific terms they used to refer to it.
apparently the society believes that crux still meant "stake" in the second century a.d., when tacitus composed his annals.

While Ngos can associate with the U.N.'s Department of Public Information or DPI, only nations
of the world are considered members of the U.N. However, DPI does have certain criteria as can
be seen in this News Release around the time that the Watchtower Society was accepted for
association. Note, that certain things were required and that NGOs that were inactive could be removed.
Moreover, Watchtower representatives had to attend 2 days of orientation, so they well knew what to
expect.

It was also unnecessary to associate with DPI in order to use the U.N.'s documents in the Dag Hammarskjold Library. There
are Depository Libraries containing these in several place in New York State, including Columbia Univesity
in N.Y. City. The Watchtower, on one side of their mouth, gave the U.N. a bad rap, while on the other they
acted as its spokesperson by writing articles on the U.N. in Awake! magazine and presenting these to DPI
as evidence of their commitment for association. How hypocritical is that! It would be like the Watchtower associating with
a Catholic organization in order to use the Vatican Library.
That site by 3dWitness, pure and simple, is an attempt to whitewash.

"The smoking cup swing above the coffin." I'm a Catholic, so it's funny for me to hear it described that way.
It's called a censer or thurible. A piece of coal is placed in the censer and then incense is put on it, which make all that smoke.
It is used to symbolize prayer rising to God (Ps. 141:2 and Rev. 8:33-5) for the person who has died.

Need WT quotes prior to 1914 about how bad the times were then...
by oompa innewbie lurk3r asked me about a post i made, this one: i was a bit surprised to read some pre 1914 wt's lately that spoke of how awful things were!.....now wt quotes scholars as to how incredibly peacful an wonderful it was prior to 1914....hipocrites.............oompa.
now i cant remember where i saw them at, and he wants to know....i would love a few quotes from them saying how awful times were between 1874 and 1914.....anybody know how to find this without actually reading a bunch of them?
i think i may have been browisng some and could tell from the article title that it was about the doom and gloom back then......... .

Go to the following link and click on Watchtower. Then do a search on Anarchy. Click on the date.
When you have that, click on Edit and then Find on this Page, type in anarchy. This will help you find
the topic very quickly. Russell saw signs everywhere of the impending world

Have you tried volunteer work since leaving the dubs?
by yadda yadda 2 ini have been feeling urges to try some volunteer work, to do something with my time to help those less privileged than me.
since i left the jw's, which was quite a few years ago (faded), i've always felt something missing in terms of mingling with a group of people and doing something of a volunteer/charitable nature for others (that's not to say jws do anything charitable really, although some people have been helped to clean up their lives through joining their religion).
i think it would be tremendously fulfilling to try some volunteer work to fill the vacuum of wanting to do kind things for others, something altruistic.
