You have to hear this. At this last Saturday's DC assembly, a man walked in during a talk by Guy Pierce, a Bethel representative, and yelled out "go back to where you came from you piece of "S..t". People were just skaking their heads after that. The young man was wearing derss clothes and an older name tag. He got through security and got out in a hurry. Is this Guy Pierce not liked very much and why? I was told he is from the New York Bethel.

Convention without a 'Badge'
by IMHO ini attended a convention recently but didn't wear a badge i was treated with the utmost suspicion.
particularly when i arrived during the sessions one day.
the attendant didn't want me wandering off to find a seat on my own.

FADERS: How determined are you?
by VampireDCLXV inafter being here on jwn for a while, one does see a spectrum of sorts.
there are people here in various stages of their exit from their lives as jws.
some are full fledged kh and fs attendees whom we call "the conscious class".

I agree with the comments here that love and friendship are conditional in Kingdonm Halls.

I am working on it, but there is one elder hounder that seems to keep track of what I do on a monthly basis. The elders are so much in control of the R&F members.

I did. What a waste of my years. I knew something was not right about this religion after September/October passed during that year.

DC Brownie Points: Attend Twice. Ever do that?
by Open mind ina recent post i made on watchman duty reminded me of something that a few uber-righteous jws would do.
work in volunteer service at your own assigned district convention, but since you missed so much of the program, re-attend the whole thing again on another weekend and just "focus on the program".
i remember one super self-righteous guy talking me into going back to re-attend a saturday once.

Yes. My wife wants to attend another assembly so she can more out of it and visit other fiends. Next assembly is two weeks away.

Parroting in the meetings
by dgp inin the one meeting i attended, i noticed that some witnesses were creative in the answers they gave to the questions, while others were simply repeating what the magazine said.
i remember that, at the time, i thought the creative ones were also the smart ones, while the others were lazy, and that no doubt the creative ones would rank higher in the watchtower.. well, i think i have changed my mind.
it seems to me that those parroting the questions are, in a way, the smart ones.

We were asked in our congregation to keep our comments short due to time limits. So, parroting seems to be common.

I just completed my own list of the six Neo-Babylonian Kings. Evidently the 607 BCE year lines up perfectly with Nabopolasser's 19th regnal year. Simply amazing what basic math can do. Thanks to the K.I.S.S. approach and a good read.

Are more long standing JW's leaving?
by cantleave inat one time, it seemed that the majority of those leaving, were young ones brought up in the cult.. from what i can see now (at least on here), there seems to be a high number of 20+ baptised members years leaving.. has this always been the case?
it might be i just didn't notice from my parochial view from the kingdom hall!.
or are there really more long standing jw's leaving now, than ever before?.

I had posted on a prevoius thread that I was visited by two elders in the hospital after having a mitril valve heart surgery. They asked me if I had at least 15 minutes of service time to report. They don't care about your health, just the numbers and your hard earned money.

I 'm in the 60+ class and have mentally left and feel like making a jump out of the closet so to speak. My stomach hurts. I'm still in for my family for now, but I have a plan I'm working on.
