Kidz in North Korea
by fulltimestudent ineven in difficult circumstances life goes on.
these piks show some of the activities of children in nk.
they are usually not identified, but we can presume that they would mostly be of the children of the elites and their associates in pyongyang.. it is thought by western observers that only people loyal to the state are allowed to live in that city.. calligraphy is an important art form in the east asian area, and nk is not an exception.

Do things get better if kids run away from NK?
The Sk govt. is attempting to assist, but the problems are highlighted in this vid.

A concert for kids in NK.
No! I did not watch it all the way through! Not sure you'll want to either. Some good singers in the classical style, and an interesting young male singer at 00:31.00

Where do you go after secondary school in NK? How about a torchlight parade for youth? (Now where have I seen events like this before?)
Btw, you may note that many of these videos are posted by 'stimmekoreas'. I'm not computer literate to work out where stimmekoreas comes form, but you can win a cigar with only one guess !!

How will the WT spin China???
by Freeof1914 ini read an article this morning on how china is quickly reaching even footing with the united states in all aspects; military, economic etc.
the article continued saying how it was imperative that the united states recognize that it would be forced to behave accordingly or risk ddestabilizing the world.
another interesting statement was made that sooner rather than later the u.s. would become the 2nd largest economy falling behind china.

Freddy F's view of history (and, of course some other christian groups also) is not very clear. Nebuchnezzzar's dream image usually has an interpretation that Persia is succeeded by the Greeks (Alex the G etc) who break up into smaller groups. But in fact, Persia revived under the Parthians and Sasanians. THe mighty Roman Empire could never defeat Sasanian Iran. And Sasanian Iran had influence on China and even more influence on India.
Sasanian Iran stayed in existence until Islam, whom Yahweh also seems to have known nothing about.
But maybe the problem was that Yahweh hadn't learnt about that at the school he went to.

Here's another video, illustrating the work of the UN World Food Program.

Btw, I try to be a little contrarian in the videos I post. That is, I seek to challenge contemporary western perceptions of life in NK, without going past a point of balance and suggestign that life is perfect in NK. It is not! But it also not true, that there are 20,000,000 starving people in NK, or that, everyone is miserable, nor that everyone is a prisoner. The elite are well aware that if the regime collapses, they will lose their privileged status, and who wants to lose their status?
Also, it seems in South Korea there is now a deepseated fear that the cost of reunification will be so high, that it will set back South Korea's own prosperity, so many South Koreans now do not want reunification.
And, I take this opportunity to repeat that much of what we can see, shows the elites and children of the elites at work and play.
My policy is a challenge for me, as Youtube is a place of propaganda wars, its difficult to discern at times whether there is some glimpse of reality or if it is all propaganda.

Japan - the North Korean lifeline.
This film (made by the Australian government owned ABC) states that gambling revenues in Japan totalled (then) some $250 billion, and that much of this finishes up in NK.
This Youtube version has this preamble:
Despite its insularity, North Korea is successfully exporting its fanaticism through half a million expatriates living in capitalist Japan. Chongryun, the Workers Party of North Korea, is meeting in Tokyo. It's easy to imagine we are in the heart of North Korea as over 10,000 fiercely patriotic members come together to celebrate the dictator Kim Jong II's party leadership. Commitment to the cause starts young thanks to the Party schools run outside the jurisdiction of Japanese education authorities. This is the first time that the Northern Korean community has allowed any Western media to film inside their schools. Taught in Korean with censored North Korean text books, these children will never hear any criticism of their homeland.
We follow eighteen year old Jong Ryol and his classmates as they prepare for their graduation visit to the North Korean capital, Pyongyang: a school trip into a country still considered hostile to the outside world, but for these students, a journey "home". Jong Ryol returns from his trip with a glowing report Yet the bulk of funding from Japan does not come from patriotic ex-pats. Most of Japan's 18,000 gambling parlours are owned by Koreans with an estimated $250 billion turnover. While North Koreans overlook their leaders's autocratic ways, it seems he turns a blind eye to the origin of the money his regime receives.
