Freedom of speech in China.
by fulltimestudent intoday's global times (english, internet edition) has an interesting item:.
the immediate question is whether ren jianyu's release is part of the unwinding of the administration of bo xilai in chongqing.
at the time that ren was detained, bo was still the cpc secretary (effectively, the top administrator) in chongqing.

Is North Korea Changing ?
by fulltimestudent inthere's a good chance that a process of change is occurring in nk, which i'll come back to, as first i'd like to briefly explain how korea became divided.. i've spent a lot of time this past calendar year on the history and development of korea, this last semester focussing on modern korea with all its sadness, commencing with the japanese takeover in 1905, and the full annexation and military occupation in 1910. .
many korean's (naturally) opposed the japanese occupation.
some actively fought the japanese as guerilla's in the mountains.

Who did Paul pray to:
by fulltimestudent ini recently bought geza vermes new book, christian beginnings-from nazareth to nicaea, ad 30-325, i thought it may useful for a study unit i want to take next year, on the topic of early christian writings.
these documents, such as the shepherd of hermas, help us to appreciate what early christians really believed and also provide details of their behaviour(s).. vermes*, as well as being extremely knowledgeable on the subject of the dead sea scrolls, is regarded scholastically, as one of the world's leading jesus scholars.. so to the point of this thread: on page 106 of my hardcover, allen lane/penguin, 2012 edition of this book, vermes commences analysing the status of christ in the pauline religion, and under that sub-heading he concludes that in (authentic) pauline theology, the son always occupies an inferior position, and draws on paul's writings to support his position.
on pages 111,112 he lists texts to demonstrate that paul directed his prayers to god alone, and "never to jesus!

Early Christianity in East Asia
by fulltimestudent inearly christianity developed as a series of regional churches.
we can see the rough outline by constantine's time.
the main political centres of the roman empire also became regional centres of power for the church.. one of those centres became the church of the east, also called the easst syriac church and sometimes (mistakenly) the nestorian church.
