Two Jehovah's Witnesses came to my door and asked me if I wanted to live forever.
I said "Not if I have to do it with a bunch of Jehovah's Witnesses!!"
Even my mother laughed at that one.
Now Skipper, do you have any 'not so polite' ones?
some jehovahs witnesses dont suffer from insanity; they enjoy every minute of it!.
the society is a crutch for people who cant handle drugs or reality.. friends dont let friends become witnesses.. new light is inevitable, except when and where they need it most.. the more witnesses knocking on my door, the less i need to feed my dog.. the borg is as bad as you think, and they are out to get you.. skipper (trying to be as polite as he can today)

Good point Will. Sorry for the assumption lol. I did find your post incredibly interesting as I have never bought into the idea of 900 plus years for anyone. And yes, it opens up all new doors taking into consideration of chronology when compared to some scientific analysis.
Thanks for the response. Will take into consideration.

This is definitely food for thought and makes sense. However can you address Genesis chapter 21 v5 in regards the age of Abraham when Isaac was born? If I understand the method you used, He would only be 10 years old.

here is a simple test for idolatry.
tell a jw, particularly an elder, that you don't know if you believe in god anymore.
a typical reaction would be for them to try an encourage you.
Thank you Lee for this simple test.
Its so funny sometimes how the simplest things can be used to prove what we all here know to be true. We can arue doctrine and scripture at times until we are blue in the face but when it comes down to issues of whether the wt is more concerned about pleasing God or more concerned about the free labor force they have, and keeping them in line, it is clear where their priorities are.
And for me, who still believes in God, I find the wt priorities highly offensive.

thought this was very revealing: http://www.watchtowernews.org/wav/sunutko75.html.
you need realplayer to listen in.
fantastic stuff.
Thank you Oscar for bringing that here. I listen now 30 years later and can still remember the belief of everyone in the cong what was so close to happening. Whenever I bring the 75 deal up to my family, they seem to conveniently forget what it was really like, and even though I was only a kid back then, this link is exactly how I remember it.
Thanks to refiners fire for the Franz tape too!

hello eveyone.
forgive me for just jumping in your threads without giving some information about myself.. my name is danni.
i am a law enforcement officer.
Hi Danni,
It's good to see you came here. Finding out as much as you can is the best thing you can do in any circumstance and so it is in researching the witnesses. You ask some questions which have sometimes no real easy answers. Stick around and you will find out what kind of world it is.
My apologies for all the negativity in chat regarding the witnesses. I told you when I first left it was over five yrs before my own mother would speak to me. Believe, me this was not because of a lack of love on her part, she is just really brainwashed by them to the extent of believing that this is God's will. She does speak to me I believe in secrecy of fear of being disfellowshipped herself. Actually now I think they "allow" her to speak to me on topics non related to anything spiritual. I don't know they change their policy on it frequently.
Am I bitter about it? You damn skippy I am!!! LOL I have met very few JWs who were not very good hearted people. But their devotion to an organisation which they believe is led by Jehovah God himself, has caused much pain with me and others. And hey, we here are good hearted people too. (most of us)
Anyway, stick around for awhile. Welcome to the board.

how many of you have really gone through suicidal feelings, when you felt that no-one at all was out there to try to assist you?
did it help you to be told by so called friends, 'just pull your socks up!
' did you feel that such admonition was really daft and stupidly uncaring?
Celtic, good question.
I have been in the "funk" so many times I cannot count. Its a feeling that for one reason or another I can never explain. I just know that when I'm "in it" there is really nothing anyone can do. No words, no advice can pull me out.
My close friends are aware of this. Sometimes when my mind is fogged I have asked them to come over and not say a word, just be there. They don't have to understand anything, but they are willing to just come over and sit.
If I had an explanation for it, I would know how to get over it when it starts, usually lasts for about a week.
I am happy to say the intervals of this are less frequent now, I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe because after almost 20 yrs Im taking some responsibility for my recovery from the JW's as well as other things.
I was told that suicidal feelings are the result of ones pain exceeding their coping abilities. So the answer is to either reduce the pain or escalate the ability to cope. Not sure how this is done though. I have always just come out of it through time.

Along with Farkel's observation, they also read top to bottom the same way as left to right.

Call DPS in austin and check what the requirements are for finding drivers license info on someone. It is public record and I do believe all you need is full name and birthday. If he is not in TX then all I can say would be to check with the DMV in other states. I think they only charge 2 or 3 bucks for the information, I'm not sure. Hope that helps.
