In my interactions with JW males guarding the KH entrance or with the various males my study conductor would bring to our study (one I later found out was considered a "heavy," meaning he was supposedly really good at answering tough questions), I notice they stare intensely at me and I start fumbling my words. In one case, I went to a different KH where no one knew me and got the same stare at the door. Is this stare deliberate, and if so, what is behind it? Do any of you know what I'm talking about? I realize it's important to make eye contact with the person with whom you're speaking, but the way they stare at me feels different than when I have normal conversations.

How do I quote??
In the first toolbar of the text editor, notice there is a dropdown that says "styles." If you click that dropdown, it has an option called "quote." If you use that option, you can paste text, and the text will show up as a quote.

Calling all "Mentally Diseased" Apostates!!
by serenitynow! inlol!.
next sunday is the wt discussion of the infamous july 15th study article "will you heed jehovah's clear warnings?".
i am pretty curious to see how the congregation comments on the material.

I can't make it to the meeting, but if someone could record theirs, I would be interested to hear it. One idea for a comment that came to me was simply to keep including the words "mentally diseased" in an even tone of voice, but very clear so someone might be inspired to think WTF? Something like:
I appreciate how the article brought out that those who are no longer in the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses are mentally diseased. I am thankful that the article has warned me that these people are mentally diseased. If I ever encounter these people, I will keep in mind that they are mentally diseased.
Maybe it's a bad idea, but I just wanted to share.

School for Congregation Elders
by C.O.B.E.Beef ini attended the school late last year, and it was an emotional and mental rollercoaster for me.
i was already divided in my heart to say the least.
one of the instructors stayed in my home for the week, and my family genuinely enjoyed his company.

Has any other elder/former elder seen the same hierarchial chart written out so explicitly on the board? I'd be curious to know if this is an official part of the curriculum or just the brain wave of one particular instructor
I also have this question about the verbatim quotes. Were these just his thoughts, or are these quotes possibly part of an outline that other elders here also heard when they attended the school?

Hi summerinvincible, Maybe it's not totally dead. You asked a clear question in the beginning which was
So, did the Watchtower predict Christ's return in 1914?
To which she responded
yes, they did along with others
In the information she's sent you, you have not read anything (double check the pages she recommended to make sure we're correct) that says they predicted Christ's return in 1914, only that they believed he had already returned in 1874, so you asked the following question:
When did the Watch Tower start predicting Christ's return in 1914?
I think it's worth seeing if she will answer clearly because her responses so far are murky.
As for getting her to speak negatively about Camping & others, it looks like she is refusing to say anything about them on the grounds that she doesn't know enough about them & isn't interested in them. That's a convenient way for her to get out of having to use the same logic on the JW's. You may have a dead end there, but see if you can at least get her to answer your 1914 question for the sake of clarity. It would be good if she could see that her original impression that the WT predicted Christ's return in 1914 was incorrect. I wonder where she got that impression.

i have searched through the forums for the last half hour, and either am i terrible at searching, or they have all vanished..

FRAUD: Class-Action Lawsuit Agains the WTBTS
by 00DAD ini searched the indexes of jwn and found a number of older threads on the subject of class action lawsuits against the wtbts for a number of things such as: fraud, breach of contract, emotional duress, pain and suffering, etc.
most of the threads are fairly old.
does anyone know if any serious attempts at this have ever been made by a qualified lawyer and/or firm?

Spooky Slumber Party Games: Bloody Mary, Light As a Feather, Ouija & Spoon Bending
by headisspinning ini bought a book for my daughter called 'the daring book for girls'.
it's really cool and has lots of fun stuff in it but there's a section on slumber parties where they describe a few games.
this has opened up some questions for me.... the first game described is 'bloody mary'.

headisspinning - To add to your list in your last post, check out the history of the "ouija" board. I recall it being a relatively recent invention and has been explained by something called the ideo-motor effect. Here is a thread where some people posted some info about it.

But, isn't it a "Wicked System of Things?"
by PenelopePaige ini am not a jw but one thing that they really get me on is when they call the outside world a "wicked system of things" and say it is run by the devil.
i know the world can be great and people can be wonderful but on the flip side, the bad seems to be getting worse and morals seem to be flying out the window.
i don't know, what do you guys think?

I know the world can be great and people can be wonderful but on the flip side, the bad seems to be getting worse and morals seem to be flying out the window.
I think it is a mistake to make broad statements about "the world" and "people" without clearly defining your area of inquiry and doing as much unbiased study as possible. For example, do a serious study of the history of Western civilization and learn about various changes in human thought and society over the centuries - and that's just Western society, not to mention other cultures. This kind of approach puts one in a position to respond reasonably when people make claims about "things" being "worse" or "better."
