i was just browsing the russian jw site and saw this image that appears to represent christian persecution by showing handcuffs in front of prison bars that appear to form a cross.

which would be weird because they don't even believe in the cross, or maybe it was clip art from another source and they didn't notice.

or last and most likely i'm seeing things that aren't there 😜.

Yearly Donations down? 2.4 billion for the 2015/16 financial year

so people keep saying watchtowsr is in a financial mess.

i think we can all accept that numbers are stagnating at best and going down year on year in the north / western countries and japan.. however the recent finance dept leeks confirmed that following the may 2015 broadcast requesting more donations, an extra 30 million was sent in for the months of july/august.

stephen lett stated that this figure equated to a 30% increase.. lloyd evans has used this figure to work out how much is donated on a yearly basis worldwide.

How can the congregation express its joy when an announcement is made that someone has been reinstated?

In Luke chapter 15, we find Jesus’ powerful illustration about a man who had a flock of 100 sheep. When one of the sheep was missing, the man left the 99 behind in the wilderness and went after the lost sheep ‘until he found it.’ Jesus continued: “When he has found it, he puts it on his shoulders and rejoices. And when he gets home, he calls his friends and his neighbors together, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’” In conclusion, Jesus said: “I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous ones who have no need of repentance.”—Luke 15:4-7.

The context shows that Jesus spoke these words in order to correct the thinking of the scribes and the Pharisees, who criticized him for associating with tax collectors and sinners. (Luke 15:1-3) Jesus pointed out that there is joy in heaven when a sinner has come to repentance. We ask, ‘Since there is joy in heaven, should there not also be joy on earth when a sinner has repented, turned around, and made straight paths for his feet?’—Heb. 12:13.

Dear Brothers:
We would like to inform you about a recent adjustment. In the past, we considered
inappropriate for the congregation clap when the elders announced a reinstatement
(km 2/00 p. 7) But, as explained in The Watchtower May 2016, page 32, there
Biblical reasons that allow you to clap your hands spontaneously and dignified manner
when such announcements are given. So if publishers want to clap, elders should not discourage them from doing so.

Gostaríamos de informá-los sobre um recente ajuste. No passado, considerávamos
inapropriado que a congregação batesse palmas quando os anciãos anunciavam uma readmissão.
(km 2/00 p. 7) Mas, como será explicado em A Sentinela de maio de 2016, página 32, há
razões bíblicas que permitem que se batam palmas de maneira espontânea e dignificante
quando tais anúncios são dados. Portanto, caso os publicadores queiram bater palmas, os anciãos
não devem desencorajá-los de fazer isso.
