I went to the 1969 Peace on Earth convention in Wembley. And sadly I always fell for this crap:

" If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years "

Today I see the trickery in the words. In the first sentence they state as fact I would never grow old, but in the third sentence the evidence only 'indicates' it might be. This is how the GB lies their way out of things years later, by republishing the third sentence and saying the publishers ran away with themselves when they believed the 'fact' of sentence one.

How could I have been so gullible? I will never know the answer to that now, but I do know if I ever met a member of the GB I would punch him in the face and not give that a second thought.

I did grow old. And to any young JW reading this I will state as a fact that you will grow old too. Because all the evidence indicates the GB are all liars.

looking at the media and the subsequent comments from israel regarding iran, it looks clear that something is going to happen soon, very soon..... with iran having the ears of both china and russia, israel having the us and of course we (uk) as the states poodle on the other side.

i wonder if this could be the beginning of the end?.

Listen buster, you called me a liar, you now have the opportunity to prove it. You can't. So you turn the tables and ask me to prove my innocence. Obviously you are wrong and that's why you can't prove the Iranian president said he would use nuclear weapons on Iran. An apology would be in order, although I don't expect one because your social skills have been entirely lacking so far.

I am not going to drag this thread down into an argument between us so I will not reply further. I called you out and you failed to deliver. That's enough for me.

Nowhere in the contents of that link does the Iranian president say he would use nuclear weapons on Israel. If I missed that part, quote it directly, or shut up.

Where is your proof too? Only one country in the entire history of nuclear weapons has EVER used them - the USA.

Israel has nuclear weapons. The USA has nuclear weapons. If Iran used one they know they would be bombed in retaliation. The potential for the death of millions of Iranians exists if they used the bomb on Israel first. The Iranian president may be an enemy of Israel but he is not insane. Nor is he the one who has the final say. He is not like the US president - Unlike some other countries, for example the United States, in Iran the office of president does not bestow full control over foreign policy, the armed forces, or the nuclear policy of the Iranian state, which are ultimately under the control of the Supreme Leader.

It's not my gut feeling. Educated opinion supports the view Iran, if it is seeking nuclear weapons at all, is doing so as a defensive measure.

@Joey Jo-Jo Strong words from you, and strong words from the Iranian president. It is no secret either side hates each other. But Iran would not use a nuclear device on Israel in a first strike. North Korea has nukes too, and they are led by fanatics, but they are not about to bomb South Korea either.

@Joey Jo-Jo He never said anything about using nukes on Israel. You should not be surprised to hear anti-Israeli sentiments in the ME. They are said all the time, in Egypt and Saudi too, but they are not reported in the US because those countries are allies.

Iran has not attacked another country in 300 years. Even if they were to have the bomb they are not about to drop it on Jerusalem. They know the retaliation would wipe them out. So why would they want one? Self-defense! So many other countries are destabalized and even invaded on false pretexts (like Iraq) that they would feel safer with a bomb.

As for Israel, they are taking full advantage of this election year to force the US to do its bidding. They know that if they attack Obama has no choice but to support it. At the moment the US is being led by the nose by Israel.

And please don't believe all the media hype about Iran, especially if you live in the States. Just because Fox says so does not mean even one word is true.

If one were to shun and ignore Witnesses does that make one just as bad as them?

for all the criticism of jehovah's witnesses' shunning policy, if one (an ex jw) were to deliberately avoid contact with witnesses and, dare i say, shun them, does that mean that one is just as bad?.

I don't agree with shunning. Even if someone has pissed me off that's no reason to ignore them and act as if they are not there. I would not ignore even an enemy, although a greeting may be limited to a nod in passing. I don't think shunning protects you. It's what happens following the initial greeting that matters.

Screening phone calls and avoiding going where someone you don't like is likely to be is not really shunning. Shunning is when you are in a situation where normally you would acknowledge their existence in some way and you don't.

i think romney will be the guy but i have my doubts that he will beat obama because no one seems to be in the lineup that anyone wants to embrace..

In politics even a week is a long time. But if I were to make a prediction I would say that Obama will win. Unless something dramatic happens to change the political landscape, no current Republican frontrunner has what it takes to win.
