A little more about myself
by Soledad inhi all again...i had said that i would post a little more about myself, not too much, i hate to be long-winded and boring, but i also like to keep my word, so here goes.. there were always 3 nagging doubts that i had in the back of my mind: one was how come we as witnesses commemorate the death of christ if he specifically states "do this until i return", yet the wts stated that he returned invisibly in 1914?
(im sorry i dont have any kind of bible handy to quote this scripture word for word, im just going on memory) of course i now know that the "official" position on 1914 has somewhat changed, but when i was a dub, it was all the rage, in addition to the whole "generation" teachings.
some witnesses in my congregation actually braced themselves for 1994, anticipating something.

Thanks soledad,
After reading your other thread and seeing the similarities of upbringing that many of us had, I can relate to the feeling of being in limbo.
Fortunately you had doubts that allowed you to think outside the borg.
I never had them until well after being Df.

Close call
by Tammie inlast night i had to turn off and unplug all my electrical things.
we has some major lighting and raining going on.
around 10 pm i took my dog out, so she could take care of her bathroom needs.
-
Kep
That is a bit of a worry.
I hope the rain doesn't get any worse for you.
Fortunately I don't have that worry where I live, but we do have earthquakes regularly.
It pays to be prepared for the worst.

I Want My Money Back!
by Beck_Melbourne indo you remember the donation box on a stand at the back of the kingdom hall, or sitting on the coffee table in the centre of the room at the book study?
since i was a little kid i remember my grandmother giving me a few coins to put in the box for the world wide preaching work fund...and then as i grew older...i was given a note or two...this time for a neighbouring kingdom hall fund.
as time went by...an adult in my own right...i would discreetly put in a few notes for the kingdom hall utilities or to help with the costs of hiring a stadium for the district conventions etc...and sometimes for kingdom hall quick build projects.. i feel so ripped off when i reflect on the amount of money the wt has inherited from deceased estates...and the amount of money and real estate they have hoarded over the years.

LOL animal, you da man !!
I did enjoy a few treats thanks to the contribution box, man it was great being the accounts servant hahahahaha!!!
Beck, that sounds pretty sh*tty if you ask me.
How's your gandmother go and do that. I can't see the rest of her kids taking that lying down.
As for your mother, well that's a bit of a worry. I wonder if this is new light from her or something that has been done a while ago.
I wouldn't let them do that, the Joho's have enough suckers and their money without taking from the family who are there thick and thin.

Pick One
by Siddhashunyata inpick one!
only one!...the main business of the wtbts is: (1)religion (2)publishing (2) real estate.

Kep
Surely it is working its way up the scale.
Started out as (1), then moved on to (2), but no with the decline it is definitely (3), that's where all the money is !! -

This yarn takes me back to my younger days.
I had some dude give me the finger as a kid.
Why ??
Well, I had this wooden rifle and I would put firecrackers in the end of it, light them, then pop up from below the fence and waste any cars driving by.
Just as well we don't have many guns around this place.
Can't see that happening now tho, people are paranoid about things being pointed at them.
Would get more than a finger these days.

Aaargghhh!!
I remember seeing kids in town with those things on and feeling so sorry for them.
Now that I have an almost 2yr old typhoon I can understand the desperate measures some people will go to.
For me, I will never put any of my kids in them. Even the dog hates the leash let alone my babies.
If it was me out in service with a kid like that I would only spend an hour and then take the kid home, then as they say they go out on a Saturday as well, do another hour.
So glad I don't have to worry about that now.
Altho, it's wintering up down here and I know my baby will be wanting to tear around the rugby field as we watch her uncle play.
Bugger, looks like I'm only gonna see 1/2 a game !!
