this whole noah was a preacher of the last days things has me really irked.
i just don't see noah as a preacher, in the sense the society is using it, supported by the bible.. here are my thoughts, yes, they're not scholarly, but they represent how i feel.
feel free to comment in agreement or disagreement or possible sharing some more scholarly information.. genesis 6: 13, 18 and 7:1 clearly show that jehovah had already chosen noah and his family.
Fieldgoal, that is also a very good point. Especially the reference to Lot. That gets skipped over.
whenever a newbie signs on...my heart skips a beat.
i wonder if it might be my son?
my daughter?
Santika,
Is that you? I'm your cousin...Benny. let's have a good family hug, now...How have you been?
one of the many questions that i am asked is what are the current gb members like, who are the hardliners and who are more moderate.. because of my previous job, at a european bethel, i had dealings with most of them with the exception of sam herd.. these are my observations of my conversations with them and how others who had dealings with them.. other ex bethelites may have contrary views to mine, but i would be surprised.. i had spent a lot of time with splane, lett and morris.
hardliners.
david splane, without doubt the one who commands the most respect and attention.
I hope one of these guys figures it out and writes a another book. We are due for another C.O.C.
There I go dreaming again.

That Narcisso's reference is really informative. It is interesting this historical acct helps us to understand that the early Christians preached, and used the Noah account as a real, and motivator.
I'm not sure whether all or a limited number had preach in the 1st century, but I know that it couldn't be like it is structured today. For instance, the qualifications for Elders, and Min Servants don't mention it. But, somehow the Society, Elders, and Circuit Overseers magically see it there and do a mathematical formula to see if the candidate averages 10 hrs per month. It used to be the National Average, but since that has dropped to 7.5 hrs, they are still holding to 10 as the figure.
Preaching is a Christian practice for sure, but something doesn't quite add up with the methods of the society. We need to have a serious look at the Insight to the Scriptures book. The one doing the research should be someone as honest and reliable as Raymond Franz was when he worked on the Aid to Bible Understanding book. Then a radical change should occur withing the organization and they should cease using unbiblical terms such as Pioneers, Auxilliary, and Regular, and Special. Get rid of the slips of paper. If they want to count the hours, then make the reporting of them undisclosed.
I think I'm only dreaming, though
i retired in the middle of may.. i know many of you would love to have endless free time on your hands too.. right?.
ummm, well..... i'm use to being very active.
i use to stand on my feet eight hours a day.. at the bookstore i'd have to squat, stoop, stretch, lift, walk.. i had to sort, answer question, make change.
Terry,
You sound like you are enjoying that volunter work that you are doing. It's nice to spend time with people, and whether it's physical, or mental work it is rewarding if it is helpful work.
I will retire soon myself, and I look forward to helping with some hospital work.
The main thing is to stay happy, and fulfilled.
Peace to ya,
dear all,.
i'm new here and this is my first post.
i hope to introduce myself in order to gain more friends online.. to begin, i'm middleage and has just left wt with my family intact (praise god for that).
Wellcome, Party Delights. Sorry about your experience. Hope you find some peace, and comfort on this site.
did anyone else catch this in the talk at the convention 'are you behaving as kingdom citizen?'.
.
Heaven, yes, they don't diferentiate about the Elderly ones, unfortunately.
But, they do state that they will accept 1/4 time increments for the disabled. This apparently was a new arrangement that was considered to be a loving gesture from the FDS. What kind of love did the FDS have before resorting to this practice is under review. I so wish that they canned this publisher record slip. It just creates more frustration than it's worth. So is the titles of Pioneering (regular, and auxiliary). Anothere term not mentioned in the Bible. I do believe in Preaching, but I hate it when the bean counters take all the joy out of it.

I have a hard time posting to this site, so I used Google Chrome. It is set up separately on my desktop. Someone on this site told me to do that.

Hey, go easy on Godrulz, He has an opinion, just like we all do.
I neverdid like the slips of publishing. Just think about it. It's called a Publisher record, not Preaching record. The word publishing ....not in the Bible.
I do believe however in preaching. None of this "Citizenship, obedient Citizenship, deported citizenship" made any sense to me when I heard that talk. Let's face it. The National average of hrs are falling, and the ORG is desperate. The OR bk has included those that are inactive in the same paragraph as the Marked ones. The ORG are losing their fight, and the hrs are going to decrease further. Soon the ORG will surrender that fight.
