  Refuting Franz's Crisis of Conscience

  i'm about halfway through crisis of conscience.

  some pretty extraordinary stuff in there.. wondering, aside from telling people not to read "apostate material", has there been any official denial or refutation of the books contents by the watchtower society, official or otherwise?.

  side note: franz is a wonderful writer, if a bit repetitive in places.

  That's something that always puzzled me about his book. The Society was open with showing the pyramids, and older teachings of Russel, and of Rutherford. Nathan Knorr praised, AH MacMillon's book, "Faith on the March", but the CIC book by R Franz is ignored. There were already negative things accepted and displayed at the Bethels..It's all about the history of the Society. Why wouldn't the CIC be displayed. Well, for the very reason that the issues are still going on. This book is very powerful, and will never fade. CIC helped me to open my eyes, and put things in perspective.

  Whether the Society gets it right, and wants to be honest with everything may take a longtime to happen. Thank goodness for the Internet that has enligtened us on some things. I read CIC after seeing an interview on 60 Minutes. Later after that I ordered the book. There was no internet as we know it back then.

  How well do you sleep?

  for years i've been pretty good at getting a good night's sleep.

  a couple of pages of my book and i'm away til morning, apart from the odd bladder brigade journey.

  however, suddenly, after our house move, i am having just an awful time of it.

  Maybe there will be a book for the Elderly at the next Dist Assembly. "Questions, Elderly ones ask" The chapters will feature such subjects as:

  1) Memory, why you need one

  2) Why the role of the Elderly involves being quiet, and less opinionated

  3) How to calculate fractions - Publisher Record Keeping

  4) Cleanliness - Some peoples noses can tell

  5) What you can do when they take your Driver's Licence away

  6) Serve where the need is, by donating

  7) Planned Giving

  8) The 110 year pioneer

  9) You are respected, but it works both ways

  10) Dangers of the internet, social networks, and cable.

  I am so gonna get it.

  Pentecostal Madness: Panties, Wife swapping, aggression and epylepsy

  though i have never been a pentecostal, i remember well the frequent stories i heard of this religious movement while going from house-to-house in the past.

  i wonder if you guys heard similar stories.

  one story i heard a few times was about the confession of some males going to pentecostal churches to peek at girls throwing themselves all over the floor in epileptic movements, and some mention the word "panties" being exposed as an attraction to them.

  When do you think the org reached peak numbers?

  i'm talking real numbers here, not the stuff they publish which is skewed by allowing people to count 15 minutes/both parents counting study time with children.

  when did they reach their peak publishers?.

  my guess would be the early 2000's.

  Terrible Analogy at a Convention

  brother jackson (from the governing body) had this "neat" analogy at the very end of the convention.

  he said; "what if you were watching a football game on tv, and it was the trojans against the fighting irish, and it's been a good game.

  No, No, The football player stops and says, "I'm not worthy, I don't do enough field service, I don't attend the pracitice sessions at the meetings, I'm not even baptised to enter into the goal line. Do I have enough time left to change that?" TACKLEDDDDD

  Today's WT was interesting. The lesson spoke first about the Role of husbands, and then wives. Then it tied in some Bible examples in which Abigail was mentioned. One sister mentioned that Abigail's example shows that we shouldn't put up with husbands that are Bullies. For instance her stand against him shows that it saved her household. I don't think that the Conductor, was prepared for that answer. He just remained silent and then asked for further comments. I thought, good for you sister to have that courage and show that at times, Jehovah does reward the acts of unsubmissiveness from women.
