These are good points. I believe that the existing laws do show that it is wrong, neglectful, abusive to treat a minor child with shunning. But, shunning is wrong on Adults too. Shunning promotes hatred, intolerance, and prejudice.

some have been tossed out of family homes to live in cars!!!

Wow, this is so sad. The last thing a person who is suffering a form of mental illness needs to hear about is that they need to attend more meetings, do more FS, pray more. The message that gives to someone is you are not meeting Jehovah, the organization, or your brothers and sisters expectations, People care alot about how they are accepted by others. When they get the message that their plight is caused by not doing enough, they feel like failures, and it just goes downhill from there. I am no phychiatrist, but I have a few friends that are touched by this.
I think that the elders are in over their heads with this. The ORG is to blame for this They always want to give the impression that they can fix everything. Unfortunately, they missunderstand their limits.

Eurozone crisis- the jw's are crowing about it like mad!
by highdose inover the past few weeks i've been told that the eurozone will go into melt down and that this will be the start of armargeddon because the goverments will then turn on religon to get their money instead.. i have been told that the greek pm almost rejecting the greek bailout plan would lead to armargeddon.
of course much to the jw's disapointment the greek pm resigned and the greeks did accept the bail out.
thus saving the greek banks from collapse and thus the rest of the european banks.. i have been told that italys debt will mean they will plunder the vatican for its wealth!

Well, I do deal with the public, and work in an office. I get to wear my genes,, and I haven't worn a tie in over twenty years at work. People who see me shopping after I wear my meeting clothes don't recognize me, and are shocked to see the change.
I find it so uncomfortable to sit in a Bus, and travel over 9 hrs, and to tour through a factory in my meeting clothes. I believe I'm not the only one that feels that way. Mind you, you don't have to wear a tie, when visiting the Bethels in the Carribean. I got away with that.

The Reach Out WT Article, I don't know whether to scream or to laugh

there is was, two articles about reaching out for the office of elder.. after finishing the article my reaction to it was anger.
they made it seem that there is something wrong with you if you don't reach out in this way.. our congregation has more deleted elders than active elders.

Thinking about your account, WT Wizard. Made me think about being assigned to taking out the FS group on days that no one normal would go out.
I remember this one...it was early morning, New Year's day. The forcast and weather was severe. We had this elderly brother that never went out.
But, for some crazy reason, and it must have been freezing down in Hell at that time, and the Blue moon was probably in that sky, wouldn't you know it? He showed up. Frickin New Years day, in the Frickin cold snow, unshovelled everywhere, people everwhere hung over, and too sleepy to wake up at that time in the morning. Guess who had to take this guy? Your right...it was me. (but, it didn't count, it never happened)
I found out later that at the Elder's home where I was at for the arrangement, the Elder and Wife were chuckling at the poor sap that had that assignment. That's one experience that I laugh at right now, but it was a painful, and unthankful job like many other tasks that have come and gone unappreciated. I think from that time on, the arrangement was cancelled for that holiday, and I was surprised that the CO never called us up on that decision.
But, what's wrong with me? Wasn't it an honor to do this? Why wouldn't I want to do this again? Why wouldn't I want to serve and reach out for this fine office?

Well, where do I start? You see, this Armaggedon coming is very tricky. Yes, Babylon the Great has to be destroyed, but that one is also tricky.
Then it's that cry of "Peace and Security", that's the trickiest one of all. Hindsight is really good you know. We will be in a better position to tell you when it came, after it came. But, for now, you have to know that it is really, really, really close.

There are many JW's that work in goverment, hosp's, record keeping, and many other types of jobs.
I know many that respect the privacy of everyone, and will not disclose such information, regardless of what that WT article says.
I am not aware of anyone, personally that has disclosed confidential information.

I held off long enough in reading the WT article for the study in January. There is was, two articles about reaching out for the office of Elder.
After finishing the article my reaction to it was anger. They made it seem that there is something wrong with you if you don't reach out in this way.
Our congregation has more deleted Elders than active Elders. Many of the deleted Elders have stepped down due to very good noble reasons, such as health, time with family, burn out, disagreements of procedures, and some valid but not extreme problems. Very few have attempted to pursue that office again.
I have yet to see this ORG recognize such men for their years of dedication, service, sacrifices, hard work throughout many years. It's like the field service rule....so you did that much last month, what are you doing now? Forget the past, it didn't happen.
