Instructions To Elders Re: Pursuing Higher Education
by baldeagle inunderlining is mine.. march 6, 2012 letter.
pursue divine education:some of our brothers are pursuing higher education, feeling that they can acquire a measure of financial security.
as you are aware, the educational system varies from country to country.

This reminds me of a "Snakes and Ladder" game. Only that you pick-up a card when you have rolled the dice and landed on that space. The card reads, "Your kid is going to University. You are deleted as an Elder". Down you go, down, down, down. You are now a simple publisher. Pass the microphone for four years untill your kid completes the course. He graduates, he is working and making good money to pay off that $70,000. Student loan, but, the upside of it, is that you now qualify for Elder privilledges again.
Life is a game of "Snakes and Ladders" in WT land

I don't beleive that the GB should dictate a person's right to education. We still should have our free will to decide if we want to work making pizza's, or if we have the aptitude, practice medicine. This is not a moral or Biblical matter. Sure the Apostle Paul couldn't continue to be a Scribe or Pharasee in the 1st century, but, what was his point? He travelled and had to adapt.
We sure couldn't support ourselves as a Tent Maker today too.
I understand that some have pursued 2 years at a Community College, this is not frowned upon.

Major flub in Slavery Watchtower Study Article
by scotoma indo you ever wonder if the watchtower writers actually read the context of their key scriptures?.
they seem intent on perpetuating the idea that the jewish law was divine - perfect.. paragraph two asks the question "what would prompt an israelite slave to forfeit his opportunity.
to be free?".

Prepare for meetings??
by Jen1 indo you prepare for meetings?
if i go i spend a few minutes underlinging my books/watchtower.. i have noticed that those who do the micks especially notice when your stuff is not underlined, and comments are made after the meeting, not so gentle hints, about study and preperation!
in other words i am being told off, its usually the ones who are highly critical of everything i do, sometimes their whole family seems to be straining to see if my stuff is underlined, i know this because i heard the daughter to family wisper her watchtower is not underlined!.

I do not underline my paragraghs becuse I prepare the WT study while sleeping. I just put on my head phones and sleep. I wake up to the WT. I put the lesson on my Bluetooth radio in my car as I go to work. I put my headphones on as I continue to work. I live, breathe, walk, run, talk, eat, the lesson. When it gets to sunday I can recite the paragraph. The mike handlers can't figure it out.

the new technology exploits a recent breakthrough in physics, according to the us company witricity.
it has shown that it can send electricity wirelessly through the air and can switch on a light bulb or keep a computer running.

Has anyone else gotten rid of their TV?
by NewYork44M inwe have not had a tv for about 2 years.
and even befor this we did not have cable and spent very little time in front of the tv.
that does not mean that we are anti entertainment.

We are TV watchers. and have been all our lives. However, we subscribe to the basic package that the Satellite companies have to offer. The problem with watching your favourite programs on the internet, is, that you have to wait an extra day to watch it as it gets released by the networks.

The medical specialist told me something alarming today. Pretty bummed.
by Julia Orwell inso i've been going to doctors for years with chronic fatigue, a condition i managed ok but which took a drastic nose dive in late 2011 to 2012 to the point where i could barely function.
work was part of the problem, so at the end of that year i left that stressful environment.
but in the meantime, for the last few years i've been going to doctors, specialists, psychiatrists and psychologists and undergoing every sort of blood test you can imagine and seeing all sorts of medical people.

OK, Julia, you now know the diagnosis. Here is the cure from Dr. QB. Eat lots of chocolate.
Good health to you.
