The talk is called "The right religion demonstrates true faith in Christ"

I have to help my fading GF give the talk. If you have any subtle "apostate" ideas, I would appreciate them.

Here is what I would like to say:

As the title of the talk mentions, the right religion would demonstrate true faith in Christ. The Jehovah's Witnesses don't have a true faith in Christ, since:

We do NOT declare that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9)

There is no other name (Jesus Christ) under which men should be saved. Acts 4:10-12

We are to be called "Christians", NOT "Jehovah's Witnesses" - Acts 11:26, NWT

Change so many verses and make the New Testament have a totally different message.

How about slipping in one or two verses from this post...

Something like this one would do, ""Go on growing in the undeserved kindness and knowledge of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity." (2Pet.3:18) "

How often is Christ highlighted or is it the priest, pope... GB? Who do they focus on themselves or the teachings of Jesus and HIS role

You could reference scriptures without quoting them. You could also throw in how Jehovah is full of loving kindness in our imperfect estate. Your GF owes you.

    Thanks Cofty!

My edited post reflects the little that I knew off the top of my head.

Perhaps it would be tight and irreproachable to have the householder wonder: how, with so many religions claiming faith in Christ, we can know which religion demonstrates that faith?

Avoid the old canard about the "love" among the JWs shows faith in Christ--(it's a slogan too often used and not so true).

I would point out the many examples when Jesus commends the ones who step forward in faith. The woman with the issue of blood who violated the rules on cleaness, the father of the demonized boy and the man (un-named) who heals in Jesus' name who evidently had more faith than the apostles at that time (they had been unable to heal the demonized boy and Jesus reproved them for their lack of faith), the Roman soldier who had faith, the screwed up Legion who had the commission of trust to tell the truth of his healing, the syro-phonician woman, the Samaritan woman, the man healed of his blindness who is thrown out of the synagogue.

What is the take-away? A religion must teach these bible examples and allow that these examples of faith were highly individual and valuable to Jesus himself. And in whatever measure a religion permits the exercise of such faith within its members then it is doing right.

She won't get an "A" but if there is any negative feedback from her demo it would be interesting to hear. I am glad you are resisting feeding the Beast any more than you have to.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Here's the end result (sorry, not going to be overly "apostate" but it should make some think, I hope):

(The first part, my GF already wrote, so I will just write the last part):

A: However, I can show you that Jehovah’s Witnesses understand the enormous role that Jesus has had in the outworking of God’s purpose.

    For example,

Please open your Bible to John 3:16. Most people know this verse, but it is a very important one.

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son,+ so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.”

So, K, what do we need to do to have everlasting life, according to this verse?

K: We must have faith in Jesus.

A: Exactly. There are more verses that show how important Jesus is to Christianity. I want you to open your Bible to Acts 1:8.

8 But you will receive power when the holy spirit comes upon you,+ and you will be witnesses+ of me in Jerusalem,+ in all Ju·de′a and Sa·mar′i·a,+ and to the most distant part* of the earth.”

So what does this tell us?

K: That Christians should preach about Jesus to the whole Earth. But what exactly do we preach about Jesus?

A: Well, we preach that Jesus’s death was necessary to redeem all of mankind. Please see 1 Timothy 2:5-6. Can you read it?

K: “5 For there is one God,+ and one mediator+ between God and men,+ a man, Christ Jesus,+ 6 who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all*+—this is what is to be witnessed to in its own due time.”

A: One last verse. Every Jehovah’s Witness gets baptized in the name of…

K: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!

A: Exactly! So, K, without Jesus, where would we be?

K: Without Jesus, we would not have the ransom and we would not be able to have everlasting life. We would also not be able to be baptized “in the name of the Son”.

A: And since Jehovah’s Witnesses believe in the Bible, the logical conclusion is that…

K: We do have faith in Jesus!

    A: Exactly!

K: Thanks, A, for helping me to explain how we as Jehovah’s Witnesses DO have faith in Christ!
