Sing Dirges to Jehovah?
by donny inback in 1985 my then-wife and i were having a lunchtime "gathering" at our place to show some support to the ones in our congregation who were full-time pioneers.
i had just recently received the vinyl collection of the songs featured in the song book "sing praises to jehovah" which had been released the previous year.. .
many of these melodies sounded depressing to me although i would have never admitted it at the time.

Abhor Menstruating Women.......Because The FDS say so.
by pronomono inwow.
the insight book has some outlandish reasoning.
i'm trying to put together a talk for tomorrow night, the number 3 on abhorrent things (insight vol 1, p 17) and the entire first half links abhorrent things to menstruating women through a "possible" derived word that might mean uncleaness.

I had my meeting last night, and I remembered skipping this post as I read it's title. The talk in the 2nd school never mentioned the menstruation thing. However, a young male, teenager in the main school did address it. Go figure.
I remember the miracle recorded in the bible about Jesus and the women who was constantly considered unclean by the law due to having a conituous flow problem. She was cured by just touching Jesus' garment. That account shows us us that menstruation is not evil based on how Jesus dealt with the matter.
I swear, I wonder what were they thinking, when they thought that this was a great subject to assign to students in that TMS. No wonder they are losing students.

Qualifications for Elders & MS
by snakeface inwe all know that elders and ministerials are appointed by holy spirit.
i was in the organization for about 25 years and was in 4 different congregations over the years.. in one congregration there was a sister in her mid-50's with an unbelieving husband.
he did not attend meetings.

That black brother is gonna have to buy a Jaguar, unfortunately. Maybe, he can squeek by, if he got a key holder with the Jaquar name, or, a coat with the Jaguar name. But, that would be misleading, and dishonest, eh?

Health Advise Needed.
by RottenRiley in.
if your sister and brother died of cancer and now your body is starting to show all the effects of the disease, would you want to know even if it might mean a death-sentence?.
my dad, sister, brother and now mom will die from this ugly disease, all of them had aggressive forms of stomach cancer, my mother's battliing it has me putting my health on the back burner because i am very obstinate and hate doctors, why should i go see a doctor if the last four people i loved all died of cancer once they got their dx?.

When you bring your lunch, bring along extra's to feed others
by Quarterback inlast week's service meeting had brought out the experience in the 2013 yb about sharing their lunch with someone in the audience, who didn'y have anything.
although i beleive this to be a good idea, but, i couldn't help but think how things had changed.
the society wasn't playing by that same principle of hospitality, when they had the food arrangement at the assemblies.

Well, that the last time I share my lunch with a Communist. They can just go beg for their Vodka drinks someplace else.

Expect these responses:
"Oh no, I can't accept that sandwich...I'm allergic to Gluton".
" Do you also have a place for me to spend the night?"
" You use too much butter on your sandwich, are you trying to kill me?"
"I'm a vegetarian, how bout I take that salad in exchange for that meat sandwich that you offered me?"
" Where will you be sitting tomorrow?"
" Mind if I sip out of your pepsi can? Don't mind my cold sore, it's not contageous, honestly."
" Could you ask that brother next to you if he can spare his bag of chips?"

First of all, My lunch bag is too stuffed from bringing extra hand towells. My hands are bigger than most, so I need to have two slices. I can share my sardine sandwich, but not my pudding.

Last week's Service meeting had brought out the experience in the 2013 YB about sharing their lunch with someone in the audience, who didn'y have anything. Although I beleive this to be a good idea, but, I couldn't help but think how things had changed. The society wasn't playing by that same principle of hospitality, when they had the food arrangement at the assemblies. You had to buy/donate for your meal, unless you were a pioneer.
Many couldn't buy their lunch. I remember some of the Elders in my cong got together to provide financially for these individuals. This was separate from the food arrangement.
