The real reason why govts and local councils allow literature carts!
by stuckinarut2 ini have noticed something.. you know how we hear (and have seen for ourselves to be honest), that whenever a venue or stadium is rented for a jw event it is always cleaned better than before, and left in better condition than it was found?.
our local council has stumbled on this too!
the area they let the literature cart be set up, gets really trashed, and messy with garbage and leaves etc.

What is the Watchtower's(R) Objective with the APATHY TROLLEY(CART)?
by punkofnice ini wefer to my pwevious fred http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/280829/2/i-saw-a-trolley-cart-to-you-cousins-in-the-u-s-a.
if the wbt$ is losing money and drones then why so much apathy surrounding the trolley/cart?.
why are they not being more pro-active with this 'urgent, never to be repeated work(tm)?'.

One should not be reading to much into this ten year rule. The resources have stated 10 years after reinstatement, the person can qualify for......
This doesn't imply that a DF person could walk into KH and expect to erase everything as if it didn't happen. There is still the reinstatement that must take place according to the material discussed.

So that's it? Something written in the Lamp book, back in the 60's? We were also told that we shouldn't dance the twist back then, but, now we twist and shout every wedding we are invited to. If anyone mentions the Lamp Book today in an Elders meeting, he'd be laughed outside the room.

I read a few of the posts for this thread, and just fast fwd to reply. I hope I'm not repeating someone elses comments.
When you are ready to talk about your past, only give small dosages. i.e. My family is deep into religion....etc. Then only answer his questions, don't volunteer more information at this time.
Happy dating

WT Says O.K. To Visit With Disfellowshipped Family Members...Discreetly!
by JW GoneBad indiscreetly!.
that was the word the speaker used to tell jws at the regional convention that when the need to visit or associate with d'fd family members....okay to do so......only discreetly!.
on friday morning in the 6 part symposium entitled 'what must be kept in second place?

That's right Shirley. If the DF person lives at home, the family can sit down and have a meal, socialize, though not spiritually, have family worship. But, if the DF lives out of the home, they don't contact them unless it is family business.

My apologies, I just consulted my notes. This is what I wrote down.
"We need to take a stand towards those who are DF'd, those who are inviting us in material pursuits, and to relatives who are pressuring us to miss meetings for family events."
(Mind you I heard nothing about DF'd relatives)

Well, what I got from that part when I heard it. It had a brief demo of a JW who responded to his non JW mom who requested that he miss his meetings for help in preparing for a family gathering. It showed a wrong way of refusing to attend the meeting, and the right way. I don't remember the word DF ever being mentioned in this part. This was the first assembly in fact that we haven't heard DF mentioned in the whole three days. What we got from that part is to show respect for your unbelieving relatives. To not cut them off, but to accomodate them without compromising your Christian obligations. What my wife and I thought is that maybe there is a softer stand to be taken in the future towards family members that are perhaps DF'd, but that is speculation on my part to say this. I'd be interested in other comments who heard that talk. It was on Friday afternoon in the sympsium called, "Family Ties".

No more free water for Brooklyn Assemby Hall since 2008
by Rattigan350 inhttp://caselaw.findlaw.com/ny-court-of-appeals/1181065.html.
new york city gives religious buildings water exemptions if the building is entirely used for religious purposes and if there is a caretaker's apartment, there can be only one.
that assembly hall had 2. the water dept denied their application for exemption on that basis.

Well, either way, the WT is not the one that is going to pay that bill. The monthly pledges just went up in New York
