Try Other Religions
by Sofia Lose insometimes i get a strong curiosity to start dabbling into other religions, other faiths, you know?
really different ones such as islam, judaism, hinduism, etc.. has anyone here looked into something else?
has your spirituality been satisfied by any other than christianity?.

I've tried Materialism, and that didn't work out. I had to go and get some Credit Counselling therapy. -

Alchemist, it takes great courage to voice your inner feelings on this site. I respect your wishes to want to comeback to a Kingdom Hall. Why don't you just look-up where the closest KH is in your location and go to a meeting? Perhaps just start with attending the Public Talk on Sunday, and maybe stay for the WT study if you are able? If you start it yourself, they will work a lot faster at giving you some support. -

OK so the GB are shaming Bros who don't "reach out" but would they ever consider this?...
by purrpurr ini note on here the feedback from the currently ongoing conventions that the gb are heavily trying to guilt and shame any brothers who are not ms or elders.
i agree with most posters who reckon this shows just how thin on the ground they are for ms and elders but... my question is.
how comes that even though they are so desperate they still will not allow women to fill those roles?

Sisters are appointed as Elders and MS's in their own homes.. At least that is what I have noticed. The male servants just carry out their wife's mission. -

Drama at the RC
by leaving_quietly ini sat through part 1 of the drama yesterday.
i thought they did a fairly decent job with it, except for the weird questions asked up front by an ancient guy asking "how do you know jehovah's witnesses have the truth?
" that has absolutely nothing to do with how he was convinced jesus was the messiah.

Well, we actually don't know what colour his Robe was on that occasion, how he parted his hair, if he wore jewellery, or if he stood on the left of the podium. The one who told this story embellished here and there, but not so much as to destroy the fine portrayal of Christ. I'm tired of only seeing images of Jesus suffering, and walking around sad, and depressed as he is portrayed in Christendom. -

Advice Needed - JW Grandparents
by What Now? inmy family has been out (inactive no meeting attendance or field service) for just over two years..
weve made many changes in our lives, including with our personal appearances (tattoos, piercings etc) that are a pretty obvious sign that we arent going back any time soon.
our families went through a period of time about a year ago when they made a lot of threats that if we left the truth, they wouldnt even be able to share a meal with us, they would stay loyal to jehovah etc.

Put yourself in your parents shoes. You left the religion, not them. They want a relationship with their grandchildren, and it sounds like you want that too. Your children will see the difference and learn tolerance. In 18 years from now things will change in the JW faith. If you cut the children off right now, who knows how many years will be lost due to a crazy rule. Enjoy the loop hole that now exists, and set liveable groundrules. -

Slow motion pioneers
by 1Averagejoe inobserving our local unemployed pioneers and how long they take to get to their first or next call, usually taking the longest route to get to one they know won't be there anyway.
along the way it's gossipy this and that.
pioneers?

There are different classifications for Pioneers
Phantom Pioneer: You never see them at Service Arrangements but they magically get their time an have good experiences.
Nosey Pioneer: They know about everybody's problems and will try to get more dirt on everyone. They will spread news faster than the internet.
Self Righteous Pioneer: They are able to rapture themselves from that chair in the coffee shop within a twinkling of a eye as soon as 14.59 minutes are up.
Easy Going Pioneer: Don't see these guys on Rainy, Snowy, Hot, Cold, holidays, and fridays. They usually gripe about not making their time.
Cheap Pioneer: Their favourite line at the coffee shop is, "Shucks, I forgot my wallet, again".

Tax-exempt Status of Churches and the Gay Marriage Decision
by lambsbottom init will be interesting to see what will happen with the "beloved" 501c3 tax exempt status which the churches hold so dearly onto.
the first-century christians met in homes.
they did not have exemption from taxes to the governments.

Let's not over analyze this thing. I know this ruling changes things, but, I don't think that it will cause chaos with faiths that don't accept same sex unions.
Doesn't the Civil courts accept Common Law relationships? Yet, in the WT cong such are welcomed to a point but they will not be permitted to be baptized if they don't live up to those standards found in the ORG bk. That hasn't changed their Charitable Tac exemption status.
