  okay, i don't even know where to start.

  i'm 16, i live in a strict jw household and i know if i am pregnant (which is a big possibility) ..i know i'm doomed to a life of misery.

  not because of my baby but because of my family and the isolation and judgement from the congregation.

  i have seen some ask on this site how the active jw's are handling what is happening in australia.

  here is my little experience from last night........ my parents were baptized in the late 30's as children and have never faltered in their determination to survive the great tribulation and live forever in paradise (even though they actively associate with all their df'ed kids).

  my father is still actively serving as an elder and my mother has always been by his side.

  What is their official explanation for not allowing beards?

  i ask because my gf, who knows all about my jw upbringing, convinced me to grow a goatee, just to see how it looks.

  we both decided it looked good so i decided to keep it.

  i tried to explain to her that as a jw, i wasn't allowed to grow one, but then drew a blank when she asked me why.

  I now hate being called 'sister'

  since waking up i find i am bridling at being called 'sister'.

  but it feels like an identity that is being forced on me.. i feel like shouting "i have a name you know!".

  it is just me or does anyone else recognise this?.

  some circuit overseer gave a talk and made this statement - "jehovah will very soon resurrect millions of people.....".

  "soon" is so old hat now - "very soon" will become the new buzz words in j.w.-land..

  Like start off with : "It will come in a wee bit soon"

  No one could pay me enough money to live in Brooklyn. I know that New York City, and Brooklyn are prime real estate. It's amazing what a small 200 sq ft appartment rents for in that part of the world. Yes, they get their clothes washed, meals served, cars repaired at $5.00 an hr labour rate, but so does a person in the Army. They get no Religious Holidays off. On Christmas day, they are still reporting for work. They only get a couple of hours off on the day they need to attend the Memorial. But their reward is great in the heavens.
