Ran into not One, not Two, but THREE elders at the same time!

so i'm out doing some shopping at the supermarket and as i'm walking to the checkout, i see my so and his wife (in full fs attire) talking to someone just past the checkout registers.

i am looking for the furthest checkout at this point making sure not to be noticed by the so or his wife.

well, just my freakin luck, there is only one checkout open.

I am no one to judge, I still have family in who know the truth about the truth and continue to stay in. They have their reasons and thats fine with me. They know where I stand and I them. It is my sincerest hope that this is not construed as judgemental.

Please reread your post but this time read it from a "normal" persons perspective. It would seem to me that you are living in fear of these people. Fading is not a sin, be up front with them and dont let them talk down to you, really who asks someone "how are you doing spiritually?" Hey bro, you ever jerk off in the shower? Mind your own effin business!! (1 Thess 4:11(sans the effing)) If you feel like this is how you have to respond by hiding or ducking away, i get it, im not judging it. Thats fine with me, but I just feel like the longer we as ex-jdubs still play by the "shunning rules" or play the guilt game the longer this sham of a policy will continue to be a powerful tool for the church.

assemblies; how times have changed

my wife mentioned our circuit assembly was this weekend, she looked at me and i let out a chuckle and said "the kids are too sick right?

" (they weren't) but it was what she wanted to hear, an excuse from me to blow it off.

it got us thinking about how they were kind of tolerable when we were younger.. meals with ice cream, lots of volunteering to get you out of your seat.. there was more room at past assemblies.

the emotionally straining part is not dealing with the majority of people who are still trapped inside. I really feel for them. I want to help but like so many on this site have said "if people are not ready to see it, the wont" My mother is still in but she knows the truth about the truth. She just has an entirely different social structure than I do and I hold it against noone why she or anyone else chooses to leave or stay. The tough part for me is that my ex-wife and her husband are uber dubs and I need to make sure that my kids grow up with all the experiences and opportunities to think critically that I was not given. Sometimes I am scared about them choosing the jdub lifestyle someday but given my socially sheltered upbringing I cannot possibly imagine that my kids will choose that lifestyle when allowed to see both perspectives. In my last meeting with their mother I told her that I am glad they get to live in "a good jdub household" because in the end when people are allowed to see both perspectives the jdub does not stand up to honest scrutiny.

Dont feel bad for me at all! What floors me is this is a self made man. Decent business, at one time employed at least 5 other people, takes care of his family but he is "captive of the concept" just as I was for most of my life. I have pity on him. He has been df'd when he was younger, he knows how the game is played but he is still trapped enough, (even though I believe I saw a bit of a real person in his actions) to not even have the common decency to give a fellow person a "hello"

He says nothing and fills out his deposit slip. I just turned around and smiled to myself. He finishes up his receipt and walks by me so I turn around and say "not even a Hello denny?" He just walked by me with a stupid grin on his face and his head down! I couldnt beleive it. This is not just an elder I knew from the hall. I worked for the man for four years in a small 5 man show. We are not strangers. He is not a shy man and neither am I. The way he was smiling just made me think that something in him was embarressed for acting that way but he couldnt help it.

I know the man at least read my da letter a few months ago. The beautiful thing is, when I got home I was able to use it as an example to show my kids of how Jesus does not want us to act towards others. Once you can look at things objectively its amazing how bad the jdubs make themselves look.

JWs Celebrating Brithdays

i keep hearing of more and more jws that are celebrating their birthdays or, doing "special days" for their children on the day of their birth.

i'm sure this has always been done but what interests me is that many people aren't ashamed to admit it since they have used their own fully functioning minds to figure out that the society's birthday ban doesn't hold up.

one young couple with two kids (he's an ms, she's an ex-pioneer who dropped off the list to tend to the kids) explained it to me this way.... "the happiest days of our lives include the births of our children.

Just celebrated both of my childrens birthdays for the first time this year! My youngests' first comment when I told her that she could celebrate it was "well, noone will get there head cut off"

My wife and I were very nervous that there was going to be a gruesome accident in front of the chucky cheese during her b-day party and spoil it for her forever!

One year older, no accident, no lost heads and one extremely excited and happy little girl!

Children Learning to Think Critically Aged Six!

yesterday, i started a thread about learning how to thinking critically.. so, imagine my surprise when last night my eldest son phoned to say that his son, my grandson, wanted to speak with my wife and i about a project he had to do at his school.

he has just turned 6 years old.

the project involved asking his parents and then grandparents questions about how things when they were a similar age.. i said that i'd be happy to speak with him, and answer his questions as best i could.

my daughters school is doing something similar, my 7 year old had to call her grandmother with a list of questions and more importantly the follow up questions. my jdub mother really enjoyed the interview and your right, getting the "why" and "how" is so important.

satan is a star!

hello all, long time lurker first time poster,.

last night after setting up my family's first christmas tree, my worldly wife and i started to read, from a normal rockwell christmas book no less, the story of jesus' birth, the wise men and the star guiding them to jesus.

she asked me if that was pretty accurate and i said that it was.

Last night after setting up my family's first christmas tree, my worldly wife and I started to read, from a normal rockwell christmas book no less, the story of jesus' birth, the wise men and the star guiding them to jesus. She asked me if that was pretty accurate and I said that it was. I asked her if she knew who was guiding the star that led the wise men to jesus and she of course had no clue what I was talking about. I think while she was reading, i had yet another epiphany. I pulled out the dusty copy of My book of blbe stories and sure enough, I knew there was a reason that I thought satan was directing that star!! Its because the bible story book told me he was!! It amazes me the the level of indoctrination that I never saw before. I know that most of you know what im referring to as the bible story book clearly says that satan the devil led the wise men to jesus after they talked to king herod. As I sat on my couch i said to my wife that at the very least god allowed the star to lead the men to jesus. How you can flat out say that satan was behind the star just floors me!! I hate this organization!

Now I use to read that bible story book every damn day. I read it and listened to it on tape almost every night before bed. I had half that book memorized before i was 10. Even to this day, its the one book that I did not have a problem with my two children reading. Now after remembering this I feel like I need to read the book again to see if there is anything else i should be concerned about.
