I got no problem with my fellow sconnie. I also was a born in from the south east wisconsin area. When your ready to wake up your ready to wake up. It will happen, he is already this far for petes sake.

What floors me is that all these people will be at the convention, a good number with doubts but all afraid to say anything because of the very real consequences with regards to family and friends. I get that. I tell my family that are still in, it all starts with you, one person. If everyone just stood up and voiced the opinion, questioned what needed to be questioned. Make your friends and family prove to you why the dubs were chosen in 1919. Prove it to me. Prove it from the bible why you cant talk to me if "pbrow is no longer one of jehovahs witnesses" Please dear family member show me where the bible says "never talk to the one smoking a cigar/celebrating christmas" Make your family prove it and dont let up. Be tactful but dont back down. They cant do it and they will wake up. All these people who have plaques at home that say "lean on jehovah" just need to do it. He will take care of you. If your friends and family are worth it, you will be able to reach them.

If the dubs ever get rid of the df/da policy they will be an acceptable religion, no better or worse than all the rest. Stop breaking up families

We want you here if for no other reason than the "1st century organization" thread you started. If you get the pdf you wont help further the jwn agenda? So what. What is the agenda here? I am sure a large majority of people here would have no problem with you or anyone else posting every piece of light the society has put out. We are not afraid of people reading light by the society. Part of the agenda is allowing people a voice that they otherwise do not have in the real world. A voice that if spoken out loud would certainly put in jeapordy lifelong friendships and family ties. A voice that is not spoken of in an authoritative "my way or the highway" but simply an honest expression of "i simply dont believe in 1914/1919" (choose a belief)

I just read standfirms request for the pdfs at the green bay convention so thats the only reason I put his name in here. It could apply to any society apologist. Any apologist that converses back and forth with "outlaw" and then tries to hammer to death other doctrines that should be followed as presented by the society in my opinion is ..... suspect? (not sure if thats the right word). I havent been here long but Im pretty sure outlaw would be considered an apostate by all my former dub friends. Again, "society apologist" i dont care if you converse with apostates because in fact i dont consider "outlaw" an apostate.

It just SEEMS disingenious to me thats all. rambling over.

I am thinking about voting

so, i am thinking about voting for the first time in my life.

even though there is a questions from readers article that basically mentioned it is a conscience matter, we all know what the unwritten rule is.. problem is, even though i'm mentally out, i'm still physically in.

do you think that if i'm seen at the polling station by the witnesses i could suffer any consequences?

Bucholz, if you feel like you can than by all means do it. It is a part of being a good citizen to your fellow man and it also helps to release the grip that the religion has on us. In my area voting for your third district alderman is seen as putting world rulers (or district alderman) over god, but like Sabatious said, the best thing about JW's is you can use the everchanging watchtower against them. The rules go back and forth so much even the good jdubs dont know what the latest direction is.

1st Cen. Christianity - One Organization

the subject is whether or not god has an organization.

You have started things simply but have not stated your side of the debate. I wonder what the definition of the term "generation" was to the apostles in the first century? I wonder also if some were declaring 1874 as the date of christs return vs 1914. Which one would have been "false doctrine" back then?

I would say christ came to establish a personal relationship with each and every person that he made his covenant with. Each person who accepts that covenant is part of that "organization" if thats the term we are using in this thread. All these individuals are united/organized by love of christ and by his sacrifice for us. In what each of us think, say and do in our everyday lives we bear witness to our lord. If thats talking to people at their homes or place of work or simply by our actions with people we come into contact with every day we can teach who christ was and what he was about.

I hate the secular man made incorporated "organization" of "Jehovahs Witnesses". There are some fine people inside the secular organization of Jehovahs Witnesses that I beleive are indeed united in christ, but its not because they are "Jehovahs Witnesses" It is because they are united by christ sacrifice for us. Same as catholics and lutherens or baptists.

I still say troll, but that doesnt have to be a bad thing at the end of the day.

Standfirm you should associate with whomever your bible trained conscience allows you to. Do not allow your conscience to be bound by anyone but christ. But you are blowing smoke pretending that your membership as a Jehovah's Witness is not in jeapordy if you make it known to your elders that you are fully participating in these blogs/forums/websites and you will do so as you please.

Undercover apostates...

i've observed some forum users here that claim to be active witnesses (even claims to be ministerial servants or elders) while duplicitously supporting apostates online.

my contention is this; why attend meetings and/or participate in the preaching activity when the second you divulge your apostate thinking into the congregation, you'll be disfellowshipped?

while this action taken may seem to be harsh, the outworking of events wouldn't be much different in one of christendom's churches.

From my own experiences...

My parent stays in because the jdub unity is through fear, not through love. I lost alot of friends simply by writing a 3 sentance letter to the kingdom hall saying I dont agree with some policies. Friendships of 30 years wiped out (not from my perspective) in a heartbeat.

My parent cried for days when they realized jdubs teach that Jesus is not the mediator for them. My parent chooses to stay in for the social aspect friends, sons and daughters mothers who will be cut off if questions are brought out in the open. I dont agree with keeping them hidden by I am not my parent. They have their reason and they are no better or worse than my reasons. When you realize that this organization is not gods channel(nor is any other earthly organization) you are allowed to question it only if you are ready to lose a large percentage of family and friends.

Whether you stay or go is up to each individual. I will say though that you have a much better chance of making changes from within.

Maze, I know I dont think that just because you are a Jdub you are bad association. If you are bad association I will not associate with you. But the great thing is I get to choose who is bad association. The principal application of 1 corin 15:33 as applied by jdubs is that if you are not a jdub then you are bad association. That is not simply a loaded gun but a loaded shotgun with a wide spread.

I jest with the "what is the definition of "is" is" but I simply mean that when I read in the watchtower that one should not even say a greeting to an apostate or allow them into your home, I take that to mean the principle the gb has come up with is not to engage/talk/type or otherwise interact at all with apostates. If you or standfirm see it differently that is fine with me. Your governing body has come up with the principle. You are admonished/advised/adviced or whatever you want to call it to stay away from apostates. You are going against the self proclaimed gods channel on earth.

My gut is telling me that you are an uber troll. But after reading your last few posts I may change my tune. I get the same head spinning, bang my head on the wall feeling when I read your posts as I do when I have to discuss with my uber dub ex-wife's decision to allow our children to die rather than accept a medically neccessary blood component. (even though when a judge (controlled by satan's system of things) takes custody of them, she will then allow it for some reason)

Maze, you are correct and I think you will find many hear agree with you. What you need to do is get on the school and give a talk about how its simply advice and that its not a sin to communicate on anonymous internet forums. When the PO or other brothers try to get you down from the stage and ask to "talk" to you after the meeting, just keep repeating that line, "its simply advise. Its not a sin to communicate on anonymous internet forums.

I unfortunately cannot do any of those things anymore (w/out being arrested) because of my indepedent attitude in choosing a wife, choosing what days are important to my family and choosing to not beleive "the gentile times have ended, their kings have had their day"

i mainly post on the topix jehovah's witness forum, but i decided to give it a try over here also.

I think ive got it. Over the last year I have read a few of standfirms posts on topix and his own blog. I even asked a question about his belief in the blood policy. After reading about the "its not blood because of the centrufigural force of the beaker filled with protoplasmic isotopes taken during the lunar month of ramadan taken from an antitypical byzantine prostitute" While I will always welcome another "sconnie" on the board, from my lurking here for a few months before actually contributing I think its pretty safe to say that standfirm is a troll. A troll that has his own website and has somehow figured out how to monitize his being a troll.

Standfirm, I know that none of these post will discourage you for a time. I again welcome you here, It will do alot of lurkers alot of good. I am actually happy that my children have a strong Jehovahs Witness presence in their lives in their mother. The absolute worst thing for a born in as far as Jehovahs Witnesses are concerned is having one strong Jehovahs Witness parent and having a critically thinking non Jehovahs Witness parent as well. Your post will have an enormous impact on the many lurkers here and it will not be in the way that you like.(if you werent a troll)

By the way.... for all the sconnies on the board.. Brauny and Fielder are going to the series this year!!
