  Why I constantly write letters to the Watchtower Society

  hi all.. for many years now, i have been writing letters to bethel in new york and london.

  i have also written to the charity commission, the bbc and more to highlight the harmful teachings and policies of the watchtower society.

  i realise that some may view this as futile and understand why they might feel this way,; especially considering the pharisaical stonewall-like attitude displayed by the leadership of watchtower.. some reasons i do so is because i feel that constructive criticism is essential in helping to bring about change.

  It is absolutely NOT a waste of time. Just because a letter will most likely not get many out, that does not have to be the main point of letter writing. Your conscience is telling you to write and following your conscience is NEVER a waste of time.

  If these cow eyed adults do not care to read your letters then fuck 'em. Every letter, every good natured hello to a dub from an ex/apostate, every sip of wine that is taken at the memorial is a chance to be a brick out of the wall in the minds of someone. You never know who that someone is but this message board is living proof that we have been, we are and we will continue to be woken up every day.

  No two people are the same and people wake up in different ways for different reasons. Do whatever you think helps sans violence.

  My friend the 'Super-Dub.'

  i speak semi-regularly to an old friend of mine who i would describe as a super-dub.. he knows i am inactive but over the years i have peppered him with a lot of questions about the org.

  that i hoped would make him at least pause and think somewhat rationally about the reality of being a jw in this brave new- post gb 2.0 world.. we have discussed everything from the generation changes, to the u.n. , failed prophecy, flip flops, the reduction in size of the wt magazine, the closing/ consolidation of bethels including lay-offs, jw broadcasting, cart witnessing- etc, etc.. what do i mean by super-dub?

  he is a born-in, has missionary parents, he reg.

  Maybe thats how you start the conversation then...

  Why do you worship the gb and do whatever they say? Then when they give you the answer about how they do not follow or worship the gb, go into all the other things you talk about.

  Make them disprove your initial question in whatever way they choose and then go into all the issue that prove they are full of contradictions.

  At the end of the day, they will not tear down the wall until they want to but until then... every. brick. helps.

  Just woke up turn TV on to hear yet another nut case with a gun.

  first they said 20 dead with 100 injured.

  now i just heard 50 dead and 200 injured.

  whatever it is it just another nut case who was able to get a high power gun to kill people.

  Orwellian change of the history(Again)

  well, this month's jw broadcasting had a curious piece of history class.

  samuel herd was there, but i don't remember if it was him that presented it.

  the theme was "how it was to be a jw in the years 1900.".

  so i am driving with my oldest the other day and she says..... i was reading the watchtower at the meeting and thought.... "the watchtower and awake are just like... what is that stuff that countries put out when they are at war?...

  propaganda... yeah, they only give you one side of something and you have to listen to them because they are chosen".

  i praised allah right then and there!!!

  My oldest is truly out. She may have to go to meetings with her mother but mentally she is done with this church. I wish I had the smarts and the stones that this girl has at 15 years old!

  Interesting Thing My Little Girl Said Today

  my 3yo daughter lives with me 4 days and with her mum 3 days.

  i have her tues, wed, fri evening and saturday all day.

  which means my ex takes her to sunday and thursday meetings but she doesn't go door knocking on saturday because she's with me.. i dont mind - at the moment - because in a way i want her to know the jw jargon so we can talk about it without having to explain what it is, and i want her to compare the bullshit to the real world.

  Hey pale... sounds like even though you are still going thru it.... you are getting through to your girl. That is good to hear.

  You have her majority of time?? that is awesome! Peer pressure only works with the dubs if they have monopoly on the kids time and friends. While a clean break with this group is best, it is not always an option as in your case. Keep up the good work of talking to and exposing her to worldly kids and activities. I like tiki's take on it. Go about your life and when jdub stuff comes up, pick your daughter's brain as to what you think and then offer up your life experiences. That is a pattern I have followed with my 13 and 15 year old kids and it has worked excellent!
