Quote from Manal al-Sharif
by FayeDunaway inmanal al-sharif is a saudi arabian former extremist muslim who was liberalized by the internet and became a women's rights activist in her country.
reading this quote i was struck that her experience is similar to a jehovahs witness experience, including mine, and gives me hope that many more people who are brought up in extremist environments will wake up, no matter what their backgrounds.
the internet is a fabulous thing.

Contin-uous hyphen-ation
by Xanthippe ini know this has been mentioned before, that words at the ends of lines are continually being cut in half and hyphenated.
i think a suggestion was made and if i could find the thread i would follow it but it may have been removed, i've gone back in 'forum related' topics several months.. i can see it's not just me that it happens to and i have been trying to ignore it because life is too short and all that.
i'm just starting to find it really annoying now.

I thought that was just a quirk of WT formatting, lol. -

Why do girls have a hymen?
by JWchange inif you believe humans evolved, and were not created, why would having a hymen help, especially as no other mammal has one?
if you believe humans were created by {a} god, or intelligent beings with advanced technology, what was the reason for a hymen?
i'm interested to hear your thoughts on this unusual subject, not many people talk about..

Also in virgins, the hymen often dissolves itself starting toward the end of puberty (it becomes "estrogenized"). -

Very sorry for your loss. Remember, everyone processes loss differently, and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Give yourself permission to feel whatever, without worrying about analyzing the process. -

The Horror of mom needing blood and almost dying...you dont want this!!!
by Witness 007 inmy mom was unwell for awhile bruises on her body....doc tells us she has a form of lukiemia.
of course "no blood" she is anointed and stubborn as hell.
her platelets (blood fraction 2% of blood volume) are 4 should be 150!!!

@Witness007, I'm so sorry. This is VERY upsetting.
@Anon2, I have not heard of platelets being separated into fractions. Further, this is not done by the doctor. This would be a highly specialized lab function.
If this were my situation, I could only think to refer my parents to a so-called bloodless cancer treatment center like Johns Hopkins in MD. Cancer Treatment Centers of America are scattered throughout the US and prefer to avoid blood. I've seen Even non JW patients fly back and forth for their expertise.
@Crazyguy what km is that?!

Document Blood Transfusion Deaths - please help
by Lee Elder inthe vast majority of deaths from the blood policy are undocumented because they are simply not newsworthy.
if you know of a death or serious injury/disability related to the blood policy, please help us document it.

Long Story of my Life/Experience
by GrownMidget inalso, my wife has come to her limits of understanding me about the witnesses related grief i have been having.
she has told me many times to stop reading the ex-witness sites because i get depressed and become angry, which sadly is true.
it's not very productive to be sad throughout the entire day and then shout at your wife for the reason she has no first hand experience about, therefore how could she possibly know and help?

What a heart wrenching story, thank you for sharing it. My heart really goes out to you. It sounds like depression, anger, and addiction may run in your family? The cult always makes it worse, especially if there's already a genetic component. I hope you are still having therapy now. If not it may help. Growing up our mom was mentally ill and at times unable to properly care for us. Something that helps me deal with feelings of resentment is to view my parents and even the congregation elders all as victims. You truly are a survivor. Healing is often slow and proportionate to the hurt. I wish you progressive healing on your journey! -

Your thoughts on the new Star Wars?
by Coded Logic inso i've thought for a while now that jj has the lowest bar to clear in cinema history.
all he has to do is make a movie that's not as bad as the prequels.
but upon viewing the recent trailers, it looks like he's actually got the "feel" of the originals down.

I just hope there aren't light beams flashing all over the screen like in his Star Trek films. -

EPIC!#%* NOVEMBER 2015 WT VIDEO "Welcome Home My Friend, Now Your Life Can Start Again"
by NoMoreHustle inwell i just watched this "epic" video, i would have to say this is probably the most disturbing video yet.
there campaign to get people back is just pathetic in the most mind-manipulating way.
"welcome home" or "come back home" are they serious?
