I am so glad I found this thread! I have suffered from bad dreams since I was a child. I have several recurring dreams. One of them is that my mom is trying to kill me or a sibling and I end up killing her in defense. Another one is that I have a tooth that is loose and it falls out and then others start falling out too and the dentist tells me there is no prosthetic to conceal this and I will always have the holes. I used to have lots of cats of prey chasing me to the death in dreams. I have lots of dreams where my dad or husband or dog dies. I have lots of dreams where I am at work in the hospital and I make a mistake that kills somebody and we work on the person for hours and hours trying to get them back. I have dreams where I'm stuck at work and I'm going to leave and I'm there for days without sleep it's extremely stressful because cardiac arrests keep coming in and we keep having to do endless resuscitations. They started as a child so I attributed them to psychological trauma from issues with my mom. & I feel like I now have PTSD from the type of work I used to do. However once things started getting worse in the congregation for me my nightmares returned and intensified about a year and a half ago. Since I quit going they kind of wax and wane. I'm not sure if they're really on the downslope yet but I certainly hope so. I'm glad I'm not the only person who is like this. -

What I said to an Elder and the matter was dropped.
by Simon Templar ini decided to tell this small story.. about 25 years ago, we lived in a certain area in the usa and associated with the local congregation there.
coincidently, one of the elders was the assistant congregation servant in a different kh and congregation which i grew up in.
therefore, we knew one another well.

I was just telling a story about this BS. I was met with by two elders & told someone said they saw me expose myself at a "gathering", but refused to tell me who. I was seething angry and hurt because I did not have any idea what they were talking about and I felt I had a right to face my accuser. They went on to put me on "restrictions" because I had a "pattern of crude humour and conduct." -

Oh my gosh @wingcommander I was just telling stories about Paul Oxenreider & getting ready to type them out. A few years before he died he really lost his mind but insisted on going out every day.
This one time he went to a door in the territory where a woman answered & he said "I had a dream about you last night, but you were wearing a black dress."
Once we were doing a street and he picked up a dead squirrel off the street by its tail and carried it several yards and left it in a householders yard "to get it off the street."
He tried to "turn over" an RV with a young lady who answered clearly drunk and holding a towel on her naked self with both hands. He launched in to a very long sermon and tried to get her to take the magazines. She awkwardly tucked them under her arm and he proceeded to ask her, "Would you be more comfortable if this sister with me calls on you from now on?" To which she replied "I don't care?" And he went on to say, "Well the problem is that I'm not comfortable calling on you. So I'm turning you over to her now."
Another call he tried to" turn over," a big black man answered the door and P.Ox says, "You're not a white woman??!" ..."No, I'm not..." "But my call book says I talked to a white woman!" ..."You're probably referring to my wife. And what may I ask do you want with her?"

What is the most bizarre counsel you received as a JW, from a JW?
by Funchback inthere were many addressed to me.
for example, i once had a sister tell me i was gambling because i liked playing skill crane (the machine where you have to try to pick up prizes like stuffed animals) at the arcade.
i then fired back a her: "you saw the r-rated movie 'backdraft.

@funchback we had Anthony Conti too at one point LOL. He was as old as the pyramids. I remember he used to make a chopping gesture with his hand and it was funny that his crooked fingers were all misaligned to constantly slant downward -

Why did you choose Jehovahs Witnesses?
by vinman ini'm wondering why ones on this forum initially became jw's.
if you were born in, why did you make it "your own"?
if you became one later, what was your draw and driving force?

I was 3rd generation born-in and baptized at 10 years old because I believed it and I was scared of Armageddon and an over achiever. I wanted the other kids to admire me for achieving this status so young.
I was a confused child

The bridge burning has begun.
by sparrowdown ini was feeling particularly hopeless about the whole jws being assholes thing and sick to death of pretending so ....
i rang my sister and told her that i no longer believe jws have the truth and the phone went silent, when i asked her to say something she just said if that was the case then she would have to hang up on me and then proceeded to indeed hang up..
so i texted her back immediately with fu..

I'm admire your bravery! Remember those thoughts when the impending harassment and then shunning occur. There is great peace in self- acceptance & love.
Every day I am tempted to call my family up and go Rambo on them. I often think it takes more self control to keep calm.

Please, no responses like "blood is good for you, alcohol isn't," that's too simple. -
