Nope, nor do I care. It's not like I still have feelings when I'm dead.

Do You Think You Would Be Terribly Missed If You Died?
by minimus inlately, i have noticed that many suddenly have died or as it is usually expressed, died "unexpectedly" in the local obituaries.. i have come to know of many young people suddenly deciding to kill themselves for whatever reasons.
most that i have known about had either financial or personal issues and sadly, they just gave up.. i wonder if we were suddenly gone, would people take notice?.....
(and don't worry about me.

My Uncle is Dying.
by LouBelle innearly a year ago my uncle was diagnosed with prostate cancer - he initially thought it was just a bladder infection and it took him passing out to go have more serious tests.
thus he received this news and shared it with us, his family.. the family rallied behind him and we all did everything we could to get him to his treatments, make sure he ate properly and supported him.
my cousins came out from the uk when it looked like he was going to die in a couple of days.

Sounds like your uncle lived a good life. I wish you and your family well on his final days.

THOR movie.
by Mad Sweeney inif you've seen it, what sort of "adult" stuff is in it?
why is it pg-13 and not just pg?.
would you bring a relatively mature 11 year old to see it?.

IMDB has a parents guide so you can decide whether this movie appropriate for kids or not. It doesn't contain spoilers or names.
Thor (2011) Parents Guide: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0800369/parentalguide
I saw the movie and liked it, and I also saw some kids there too.
There's also a secret ending after the credits.

Were you allowed to vote in student council elections?
by rebel8 inaround here in fundiedubland, it was considered practice for political elections.
.
we were not allowed to do it at all.. i had to get a parental note stating i wasn't allowed to participate.. watchtower society: sucking the normal out of childhood since 1881.tm.

Nope, that could be stumbling others and it was a step towards "real' voting and politics.
So I always felt awkward during school elections.

As a JW Did you Feel " Guilted " to go to Meetings /Service if Injured /Sick ?
by flipper inmany people in the jehovah's witnesses , older ones, younger ones have been expected to pioneer, go in field service with physical disabilities and are even considered "martyrs" if they push themselves to their physical capacities beyond reasonableness .
thus many witnesses feel sick, exhausted, tired, and essentially fight depression due to high expectations to " burn out " for the wt society.
have any of you experienced this while in the witnesses ?.

Yes, the hall that I went to was notorious for attendance. I also knew some dubs who put the meetings and service over their health. Here are some real examples:
- An older sister remembered going out in service as a little girl. Even with colds or illnesses, her mother would still take her out. When the friends notice something is wrong the little girl, her mother would tell them: "She's faking it." Eventually the little girl would pass out during service.
- A sister came to the meeting with a cold, and it eventually spread to the congregation.
- One sister's Bible study came to the meeting after being missing for a while. The study had some sort of non-contagious skin condition (excema maybe). Barely anybody walked up to her to say hello or anything.
- There was an older sister who was aux. pioneering in the summer, and she could hardly walk. She carried a foldable stool and also used it as a walking cane.
- A door fell on a 17 year old girl's finger during service. She was out in service the next morning with a bandaged stint on her finger. The reasoning was that she had 9 other healthy fingers, armageddon could come any minute, and that her finger will be healed at paradise.
- One sister came in sick, then half way through the meeting...her appendix exploded. She's still alive today, but still...
There were other medical emergencies that occured during the meetings, and they're usually rushed to the hospital.
This whole thread kind of reminds me of a riddle one former Bethelite learned from Bethel:
When should you miss meetings?
When you're sicker than Job, older than Methuslah, and wiser than Solomon.

Scariest Movie you have ever seen?
by Layla33 ini know as exjws, probably for the most, there was a secret freedom in watching horror films without thinking you would have a demon as a bed buddy.. i am not very fond of every horror movie, but i will watch those that have an intelligent side to it and is not gore for the sake of gore.
like "the ring" got me going when i first watched it, just like "the blair witch project" did, which is more about suspense.
anyway, i never saw any of the saw movies, so i am going to try to watch saw iii tonight, since it is on showtime.

Ones that I couldn't watch all the way through in one sitting:
- Shutter (the Thai version in 2004)
- Poltergeist (1982)
Ones that made me look away from the screen:
- I am Legend (2007)
- Cube (1999)
- Suffocation (2005)
Ones that made me cringe or uncomfortable:
- A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)
- Dumplings (2004)
- "Blink" episode from Doctor Who (2007)
- Exorcist (1973)
I get some of my movie sources and news from here: http://24framespersecond.net/

I'm one ... even though I suck at them, lol. There's a XBOX 360, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, and 4 computers in the house. My favorite types are action adventures, rpg's, puzzles, shooters, room escape, sometimes survival horror, and some others.
My PSN is SnowKitty1215, anyone is free to add me once the playstation network is fixed.

What's the most dumbest/petty thing you've heard of someone being "stumbled" over?
by Reality79 in- some loser once took offense that i hugged a sister goodbye at a leaving do and ran back to the elders like a little child telling on me.
i was 15, this sister was in her 40s at the time.. - this elder said someone told him they saw me with a copy of the sun newspaper.
yes, this paper is known for its 'page 3' topless girls but far from pornagraphic and i wasn't even thinking along those lines.. - one brother who had a good job was 'counselled' because he was actually able to buy himself nice things including a new car (shock, horror!!
-

Brothers were counseled for wearing colored shirts.
I've seen this happen at a district convention where my car group was nitpicking over a brother (that they never even met) wearing a lime green shirt. They were saying the shirt was too "loud" and would be inappropriate for job interviews.
I remember being told to avoid watching movies that are rated R in other countries.
However, the absolute dumbest thing I've heard of someone being "stumbled" over is ... choosing to get a college / university education.

I entered the equation: "6÷2(1+2)=x" directly onto wolframalpha.com and got this:
http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=6%C3%B72%281%2B2%29%3Dx , it's x = 9 on that site
I tried this on paper and pencil and got 1, but since wolfram is usually right i knew i did something wrong.
So I googled the Order of Operations and got this site: http://www.coolmath.com/prealgebra/05-order-of-operations/05-order-of-operations-parenthesis-PEMDAS-01.htm
According that site it looks like it's supposed to be done like this:
6÷2(3) parenthesis 1st
3(3) then left to right
9
I really need to remember the basics and fundamentals
