A Gem From This Week's TMS

before i get to the gem in this week's tms, let me let any of you newbies here up to date with us jdubs and schooling.

in the february 22, 2002 watchtower, the wtbts released the article titled "how my dream was fullfilled".

it was one of many typical jw stories of a good devout jdub "resisting temptation" and accepting the borg as absolute truth.

The word most at least is wrong and propably education is wrong term about it. But at least I must say that the variety of themes available ie. through awake magazine is exceptional. If people read those articles, at least general knowledge about different phenomenoms should be raising. It is absolutelly not equivalent (2-3 pages) to specified studies in colleges or universities ofcourse, but spectrum of themes is wider also. I've learned lots of interesting stuff from the awake articles that would not otherwise have been brought to my attention.

All things are not bad, self-righteous statements may very well be.

what are the borg going to concocked now to cover there ass with the number of morons going up again at the memorial 2010 ?.

With Pontius words, but what is truth. Still, as I am tempted to speculate around lots of things, more about this counting of anointed. I found where the bad anointed article was referenced. It is in this thread, copied there by St. George.

ive been to hospital and had a biopsy taken from a lump in my breast today

i was expecting to just get examined then told it was nothing to worry about but i also had a mamogram , then scan .

the lump i was worried about was ok but the scanner found one behind it that she was not sure about , she took a biopsy from it after i had a local anesthetic and sent me back to the doctor who told me i would now have to wait a week for those results !

when i had arrived i was told i would be told today if everything is ok !

I hope it is not what the worst case scenario would be. I know several ladies that have survived breast cancer, actually I do not personally know any that have died of it. It is mentally very hard time to get cured, all the treatments take their toll, weighing your options must be pressing too. But after, those I know have fully recovered and are actually enjoying life even more than before.

do you miss anything from when you were a jw?

a few of my friends who also used to be jw's, say they miss certain things abt it...i can honestly say that i don't miss a single thing (my sister obviously who's still in but nothing else).. before i could sometimes miss having such a strong belief but that's also gone.

i guess i've moved on big time.

Absolutelly, I miss the frankfurters, meat pies, pastries and candy at conventions. But they were removed already years ago. And the warm food was not that bad either.

I could have got these in sport events too, but for some funny reason I did not attend those that much.

If we assume for just short period of time that idea of 144.000 is right? Here was earlier in autumn a discussion about wrongdoing anointed, and attached was writing in WT/Aw from 50's I think. It stated something that anointed who fail will not be replaced until they die, as they could actually turn back. If this assumption would be the correct one, the raising partaker figures would actually make sense. The 30's generation is dying at this very moment. If we speculate further, lot's of fallen anointed could have died lately and must be replaced. This is ofcourse pure speculation and based on too old light, but I find it interesting. Funny enough this option have not been mentioned in any WT material as explanation for raising partaker figures. China is still not open so it cannot come from there either.

Update: part 2, elder's counsel to mom to quit "bad association"

well because i knew the questions would be the same on saturday as they were friday i was even more prepared.

my mom has this pattern of repeating the same questions over and over again...she will leave it for a few hours & then she will cycle them over again, but then ask more detail.. so saturday she calls me before i leave for home and now she is backpedalling her story.

she tells me that the elder's never said that they were going to disfellowship me, they just were counseling her that she should no longer be associating with me because i am bad association and have been seen with "him" (again with the him) and that his car has been seen parked there all the time.

CHG, thanks for explanation. And good for you that you are able to operate even from selfish point of view. These are things that concern foremost yourself and secondary others. Going unselfish path would look very different indeed.

Ever Disturbed by Something an Elder Said to You Personally?

i used to go out in service with this particular elder and after a while he developed a habit of saying...disturbing things.

i remember one occasion where he reminisced in rather graphic detail about a handjob some other guy gave him in school.

i recall another service venture when we passed a woman out walking her dog and he asks "do you ever wonder how many women who own dogs have sex with them?

Where did you sit in the KH?

the official wt understanding on where to park your butt during the meeting is to move around from meeting to meeting in order to get in more association or whatever but i never really saw things that way.

the kh seating arraingment at my hall went as follows;.

if you sat in the front you were really late or wanted to seem really spiritual.. the elders and pioneers always liked the same seats every meeting.. shiftless ones and those who wanted sympathy for thier back ailments would stand in the back during the talks.. ever had a sister in your hall bring in their own chair and footstool?.

Usually 3rd row from back either left or center, depending on how many seats was needed with family. Yes I've seen own chairs (comfortable ones) in meetings too.

CHG it's nice you show in active way you are not about to abandon her, whatever happens here. One question is raised in my mind here though. Looking at your postings I've got an impression that you have severe enough relationship with CSG. If I recall it right you even considered showing him openly to your family at one stage. What I understand here based on these two last postings is that you actually decided to lie to your mom and smoothen the importance of this relation. Don't get me wrong, I think even morally there are situations it's more correct to lie or at least leave some important details unmentioned, so I'm not accusing you for anything. Just wanted to understand your final reasoning around this, what were the goods and bads when you decided go this path.
